Great maneuvers in the Caucasus in 2012
Similar exercises have already been conducted before. For example, in 2008 they passed literally several days before the aggression of the Georgian troops in South Ossetia. Many military experts say that exactly Kavkaz-2008 SKSHU later led to a confident victory over Georgian troops in 2008. It was after 2008 that the teachings became traditional for those military units deployed in the Southern Military District.
It should be noted that the 2012 exercises of the year will not be operational-tactical, but strategic. This means that during the exercises not only all types and types of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be involved (including the Navy, the Strategic Missile Forces, SVKO, the Airborne Forces and the Air Force), but also other power structures: FSB, MVD, FSO, Ministry of Emergency Situations and a number of others. It turns out that the SSCHU "Kavkaz-2012" will involve virtually the entire military organization of Russia.
In addition, during the maneuvers, the main goal will be to work out new types of combat operations. These types include the so-called network-centric, when the integration of space and electronic reconnaissance and communications, UAV, weapons high precision. In this case, automated control systems will be used.
Such words were expressed by the Chief of the General Staff Nikolai Makarov during his meeting with the military attaches of foreign countries.
The words of General of the Army Makarov are supported by real deeds. Official sources in the Southern Military District reported to the public that about dozens of modernized KSHMs (command and staff vehicles) had already arrived in the formations located in the North Caucasus. They will be part of each office in the region. The Russian GLONASS system will be used as a topographic location as well as intelligence. The same system is now equipped with all without exception, new combat aircraft and helicopters. By the way, the fleet of rotary-winged and winged cars in the Southern Military District managed to update almost completely. In addition, artillery and air defense weapons are equipped with a global navigation system.
The troops delivered the latest automated control system of air defense forces - "Barnaul-T". Such a system easily controls the airspace, not only over the Russian Federation, but also over the entire South Caucasus. This is very important if only because the Russian 102-I military base is deployed in Armenia and therefore is detached from the main forces of the Southern Military District.
Anatoly Tsyganok, head of the Center for Military Forecasting, PIC (Center for Military Forecasting), believes that the preparatory activities related to the Kavkaz-2012 training center have already begun in Russia. In his opinion, this is primarily due to the escalation of tensions around Iran. Mr. Gypsy believes that the Americans may well be drawn into the war against Iran and a number of former Soviet Republics, including some countries of the South Caucasus. This jeopardizes the provision of activities of the group of Russian troops in the same Armenia. At the same time, according to Anatoly Gypsy, the General Staff must plan for preventive measures related to how to establish a logistic supply for military units.
The expert confirms his words by citing the words of the head of the press service of the Southern Military District Mr. Horbulya. He said that the military pipelines of the Southern Military District had already begun skills training sessions during the deployment of highways and the transfer of various types of fuel. According to him, this is connected with the general preparation for the start of the Kavkaz-2012 exercises. Recall that pipeline troops has only the Russian army. For example, in the summer of 2011, these military units were able to stretch 75 kilometers of the trunk pipeline along the Caucasian ridge from the town of Ardon, which is in South Ossetia to the South Ossetian border.
Of course, the Kavkaz-2012 SKSHU and a number of preparatory activities for them have a completely planned character. However, as military experts say, this does not mean that they will not be subject to adjustment, which may be due to a change in the situation in the South Caucasus.
The Russian leadership seems to be seriously concerned about possible attacks on Iran by American or Israeli troops.
