The State Department called on Moscow to “return to compliance with the INF Treaty”
The Secretary of State commended the efforts of the leaders of the two countries 30-year-old.
“The ideas that President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev discussed laid the foundations for modern arms control and disarmament, helped reverse the arms race and pushed the negotiations on the INF and the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms,” he said.
Kerry recalled that during the cold war years, the USSR and the USA had accumulated thousands of nuclear warheads, and "Reagan and Gorbachev were able to initiate the mutual reduction of nuclear arsenals and means of delivering atomic weapons."
