The Center for Public Relations of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reports that one of the interpreters of the OSCE monitoring mission in Donbass has been convicted as an agent of the Ukrainian special services. According to employees of the Federal Security Service, this man was collecting intelligence on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine. The agent of the special services of Ukraine was detained on the territory of the Russian Federation.
From the statement of the DSP of the FSB published "Interfax":
The FSB of Russia has been exposed as an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine and a citizen of Ukraine Artem Shestakov, who works as an interpreter of a special OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine, was detained on the territory of the Russian Federation. According to the testimonies received from Shestakov in the summer of 2015, as a member of the OSCE mission in Lugansk, he traveled to Kiev, where he was recruited into the agent’s office of the SBU by the officer of the national statehood protection department Sergei Slipchenko. In particular, the geographical coordinates of the locations of the people's militia units and the phone numbers of the commanders reported on the movement of military equipment and personnel. The testimonies and documentary materials obtained by counterintelligence of the FSB of Russia from Shestakov clearly indicate that the secret services of Ukraine, illegally using the OSCE mission, are engaged in collecting military information on the territory of the LPR, organizing sabotage and terrorist acts. The revealed facts testify to the ignoring by the Ukrainian special services of the norms of international law.
It should be noted that Shestakov was involved in the collection of information of both military and political nature. Due to the fact that the OSCE SMM are present agents of the Ukrainian special services, it becomes clear why the monitoring mission often does not see or hear anything, even when the Ukrainian security forces violate the letter of the Minsk agreements with the use of heavy equipment.
