Russian schoolchildren are among the best at the Mathematical Olympiad in Hong Kong
Three Muscovites (Ruslan Salimov, Ivan Frolov and Grigory Yurgin) and one schoolchild from St. Petersburg (Pavel Gubkin) became the winners of the mathematical Olympians in Hong Kong.
The silver medal was won by another student from the northern capital, Nikita Karagodin. George Vepreva from Rybinsk has a bronze medal.
The Russian team entered the group of leaders in terms of the number of gold awards along with such teams as the USA, South Korea, Singapore and China. The first team place was taken by students from the United States. They have six gold medals.
Participants of the Olympiad had to solve six problems from various mathematical sections, including geometry, combinatorics, algebra and number theory, elements of mathematical analysis.
Olympics jury consisted of experts from 110 countries of the world.

PS St. Petersburg has applied for the International Mathematical Olympiad for 2020 year.
