Ostap Petrikovich Musk: Full disclosure of the development of the "millennium genius"
If it is taken away, he frantically searches for a new fulcrum, believing in something else.
This natural mechanism has long been noticed by large corporations and now the monetization of faith is the main way to stimulate marketing and sales.
The matter is simple - by ridicule-lies traditional competitors in cassocks are removed, who squeaked something about spirituality, development, the benefit of labor and the like, and something brilliant, understandable, simple and cool slips. Immediately transferring self-esteem “one level higher”. You just have to believe that this level is there. What if before vodka booze, but now nnnnakatyvat 12 teepee summer - then this is a development. And if there used to be a Japanese car, and now a European one, then a new level. “I meet men who can afford a BMW,” they write on dating sites; and what is so bad about a disguised price tag, if a typical “man who can afford a BMW” has “allowed” her for that?
To brilliance (patented and certified) this topic in the consumer sector brought Steve Jobs. Not, of course, it was all up to him - but to bring to the sect “A new product of company X will come out and I will buy it at any cost, because I am worthy, because it will be a new level of life, God, what good fortune to have a dream” millions of people - all should be able to. For years, "here's a new phone - this is a new level in life, is about to change." That from 1 on 2, that from 3 on 4, that from 6 on 6S. That's about to change, yes.
To invest several hundred dollars in the price of a product for “You buy belonging to genius, to luxury, a part of our soul that we shiver in every stroke” and the like - it’s profitable how profitable any air trade is. Andy Tucker was selling “non-explosive sand” for kerosene lamps - well, development does not stand still, now they are selling a sense of belonging to non-explosive sand, and because of the horizon, there is a credit to the risks of reducing sales of the feeling of belonging, as well as insurance of this credit.
One of the exploiters of this theme is the famous showman Ilon Petrikovich Mavrodi, originally “Musk”.
Around his show programs a rather dense sect of believers was formed, who are technically illiterate (now they are called technographers - that is, those who are interested, but not in the subject), but are active in terms of advertising and public relations. They have a certain fixed list of postulates - like “everything that Musk does - successfully and high-tech” - which are not critically discussed, i.e. in general, this is the reason why this sect has recently been made to show chmorit. It's easy because they are stupid.
Considering that people's memory has now become quite brief, I noticed that all the fantasies of members of this circle revolve around several key topics - well, you can put it all into one article. Indicative - about how profitable to imitate high.
I am often accused of writing texts that are lengthy and completely scale - OK, this time everything will be relatively compact and sparingly for epithets.
PayPal Myth
Brief essence: “One of the successful projects of Mask is that he alone created PayPal”.
The facts, however, are much more prosaic.
PayPal was created in December 1998, and then it was called Confinity. Initially, the company planned to write software for handhelds. The founders are our compatriot, Soviet Jew Max Levchin, as well as Peter Thiel, Luke Nosek and Ken Howery.
PayPal was coined inside Confinity at 1999 as a service for quick money transfer. Under this idea, money was taken from an investor, BlueRun Ventures.
After the appearance of a fat investor and on his advice, the purchase of similar start-ups begins (standard move). And one of these startups is X.com, unprofitable at that time, which wants to be an online bank. 10 has invested millions of dollars in X.com, but it’s in a loss, business isn’t going. There works I. Mask. Mask comes to Confinity, draws dazzling perspectives, and his startup is bought among the packs of others, and he is put in to do marketing advertising.
Once again - buy in bulk. This technique is well known - for example, Cisco, which makes a year before the 500 acquisitions - that is, works. the market is simply cleared of potential competitors, plus promising developments are bought up at the root. Yes, it's expensive - but something will shoot - and if that happens, the successful will be immediately renamed to Cisco. So that later people would admire “how many developments and inventions they have”. They have money.
So, the Mask firm is bought in bulk together with another trifle, but it is placed not on a technical, but on an advertising position. Now, you know, there is such a thing - technology evangelism - when the techie is replaced by a showman (there are, of course, exceptions, but they die out naturally, that is, they pay more for the show than for the technology) - then, that term was not promoted but the essence is the same.
According to the results of technology from X.com in the paper are not used, but Musk has a share. The very same brand X.com quickly jammed, because after polls it turns out that users associate it not with a bank, but with a porn resource.
And then, when PayPal rises and spins, it is already buying at a high price (one and a half billion) eBay. And after all this, PayPal’s share of Mask is selling. For a lot of money - well, the dotcom boom began zero and all that.
Now compare this with “Ilon Mask single-handedly created PayPal from scratch, wow, that means - a genius, an inventor, a techie.”
Let's go from the recent, but already storiesto modernity.
Tesla cars
From the density of myths, it dazzles in my eyes - everything is “unique, high-tech, American, advanced, super-successful,” and so on. Everything, of course, was invented and developed by Musk personally.
Reality is easier.
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by two people - Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. They came up with the concept of "electric sports car". There was no Mask nearby. Mask appeared later, as one of the representatives of investors. The product at this point was already developed.
During the 13 years (!!!) of evolution, Tesla has released several models that differ in design and interior. The technical part does not change, Tesla does not lead its developments. The batteries used are Chinese 18650 elements, which run the entire Chinese electric transport - from scooters to buses. These are standard elements on 3.7В, visually similar to finger-type batteries. Of these, batteries with the required parameters are collected - for example, for scooters, these are blocks of 12 volts and 12 or 20 amp-hours (for example, such). Tesla buys them in bulk from Panasonic, and he places an order in China. His production that Tesla, that Panasonic - no. There are no “special secret battery modules” either, Tesla has no patents related to technical solutions in terms of the battery module. The controller at the battery pack was developed in Shenzhen - and, by the way, based on the same in Chinese electric buses. In fact, Tesla simply buys what the Chinese have invented and implemented, so in terms of technology, Tesla is always catching up - she will have those batteries in the new model that have been used by the Chinese seller for 1200 yuan for six months.
Motors for Tesla are also made in China - a separate rotor, a separate stator, Tesla simply puts his label on them (see http://www.cens.com/cens/html/en/news/news_inner_43640.html, “Fukuta Elec. & Mach. Co., Ltd. is the only Taiwanese supplier of the motor on the Model S featuring high-conductivity die-cast copper rotor for higher efficiency, lower power consumption, compact size and lighter weight ”). This “complex” action is beneficial - it allows you to “honestly” place the production in the United States, and import motors at tariffs for components, and not for finished products (other duties). Often, by the way, the scheme used to simulate local production - the above-mentioned American company with the letter C “localized” the production of secure routers in Zelenograd - imported routers as components, and at the “place of production” inserted a module with Russian cryptography support into them, and that's it. immediately magically turned into “localized production of Russian routers”.
For almost a decade and a half, Tesla has done a bunch of patents, but all of them, if you look, are associated with design or design solutions. Those. stories about “moving science, what kind of capitalization, all at the expense of unique technologies” in fact describe numerous patents “wing shape” and “plastic color at the retractable handle”. A comical story is connected with this - in 2014, for the purpose of promotion and public relations, Musk said that he “gives the world all of Tesla's unique technologies”. The creative class started a tear and left thousands of comments, “God, he is great, our god, how happy it is to live on the same planet with such a unique genius who mines it to shiver,” and that was it.
It was expected, apparently, that “well, once such unique patents were published, now the Tesla analog shaft will begin”, because it was assumed that these are just some Unique Technical Patents - but nothing happened, because these patents, in fact, after publication gave anyone the opportunity to make the same trunk as Tesla, or the same upholstery in the cabin. In terms of technology, Tesla as it was catching up, and remained - to patent the Chinese engine, it can not, to develop its own - too. Such a “technological breakthrough”, yes, and “if their patents are worth billions, then that means they are geniuses.” This means only that a certain auditor estimated how much money a company could, in theory, receive, if suddenly, due to the appearance of competitors, sales would fall, for example, to zero. It turned out a huge (and purely theoretical) amount, this amount was attached to the patent “a door handle with a cool button”, and if someone wants to buy this patent, then he must pay that amount. Just nobody wants, there is no meaning. Therefore, there is a sum, there is a patent, and here what doesn’t apply to manufacturability, what to advancement;
Let us turn to environmental issues.
Environmentally friendly now is such a thing that allows you to sell an unnecessary thing not only expensive, but very expensive. In the variant with Tesla, it is also a reason to receive subsidies - moreover, from two sides at once, and with electricity for charging, and with cars. Simply put, buying a liter of gas in countries where there is a program of sponsoring electric cars, you pay for charging someone else's Tesla.
The first myth about Tesla’s environmental friendliness is that its charging is free because “on the roofs of the charging stations there are solar batteries and therefore you can simply charge the cars with the same energy”. In general, the Mask has a clause on any commercial of a new wonderful invention existing only in the form of an 3D model, solar batteries.
Being invited to the local Hong Kong Tesla for the Model 3 presentation and test drive, I clarified the moment in detail. Everything turned out to be simple.
A supercharger who charges a battery ultra-fast, eats 120 kilowatts. Such supercharges on 4 stuff on charge. This is half a megawatt. There are simply no solar batteries to provide around-the-clock ability to deliver such power (as well as batteries that can be charged and then powered by superchargers from which to charge cars), and you can estimate how much space they would occupy. Tesla's charges are connected to a regular city network and pay decent money for consumed electricity. The scheme “we charge our batteries and then cars from them” is not used for charging, as it is unprofitable (!!! - hello “Tesla wall battery”, about which further) - the cost of solar batteries plus batteries plus wear plus maintenance plus charge loss Discharging makes this “eco-friendly solar electricity” unprofitable even for Tesla herself.
Free charging is with a bunch of reservations that make it not free at all. She has a top Model S, which costs more than 100K dollars, while it is necessary that the car was at full official service (with a non-acidic price for normal hours), so that it would never be in an accident (that is, it was scratched - everything) and storage and transportation of the battery is paid for. Classics of the genre, in general. If you sit down and calculate the price of the car plus MOT, then it will turn out that the cost of “free of charge” will be higher than that of ordinary cars.
You can charge without a supercharger, from the outlet. Charging requests 400V with 32 amps. Given that in an ordinary apartment at the entrance, God forbid the 32A is automatic, and the wiring is generally sharpened under 16-25, it simply won't be able to charge from the “regular” outlet to the 220V. It is understood that such a charge will be in the cottage, where there will be a separate shield for this purpose, well, or a special charge in the parking lot at the house (again, for money). No special environmental friendliness here and does not smell as a result.
The second myth about the environmental friendliness of Tesla is that electric cars reduce CO2 emissions. No, emissions are only increasing. The destruction of this myth is extremely dangerous for Tesla - firstly in the study by reference it turns out that the power consumption in advertising is greatly underestimated (almost 2 times), secondly due to the fact that a lot of fuel is spent on creating the necessary electricity "Green" subsidies - and without them, and so unprofitable Tesla will feel completely bad. Therefore, there is a massive campaign "oh yes nonsense all this what's the main thing that does not smoke." The fact that next to this smoke in 3 times stronger than TPP - is silent.
As a result, under the brand name Tesla, we have a coolly developed Chinese electric machine, expensive to maintain.
The monetization scheme - “electric transport is a wow-exclusive for successful and extraordinary people, hence the markup of hundreds of percent for the brand and image”. Exclusivity, not inclusiveness, leads to the fact that, a priori, cheaper electric transport (there are fewer than knots and components in it) turns into a fetish and a prestigious thing. There is no development, no technical breakthroughs - 13 has been doing years, during this time nothing but a redesign has been made. The failure of 2014 of the year with the “discovery of the world of unique technologies” clearly showed that a dusty empty closet was waiting for Buratino at the magnificent door.
The financial side of the issue is even more dismal - despite state subsidies, despite electricity concessions for charging, despite subsidies to car buyers, Tesla is unprofitable and works in the red, spending investors' money. The mask failed to make a technological breakthrough or create a financially sound enterprise.
Let's go to the batteries.
Glitter and poverty of batteries
A wall-mounted battery that “saves” or even “generates” electricity is perhaps the best detector of “technogists” of the humanities. I thought everything before its appearance - this is for whom this spam is sent, such as “an economizer of electricity! Just plug it into the cigarette lighter! ”? It turns out that the typical consumer of such nonsense is the very “advanced technogic, fanatic of new technologies” who have not mastered school physics.
In May, 2015go, just over a year ago, Musk held a presentation of a wall-mounted battery. The essence of his idea was simple - a healthy bespereboynik is hung on the wall, through which the whole house is powered. Generating capacities are added to a bespereboynik - either a wind turbine, or solar batteries. They constantly recharge it, but it cleverly monitors subscribers, and when it is necessary, it feeds from the general network, when it does not, it saves. It may even sell electricity back into the public grid. In principle, ie Yes maybe. May buy electricity when it is cheaper, for example at night.
The presentation caused a sensation in greedy, infantile elderly children from office cubicles. So much “Well, now Gazprom Kapets” was not even when he really could have been kapets.
What in fact?
The whole idea with a wall-mounted battery is an attempt to further monetize the spent batteries. That is, in the Tesla battery module, a bunch of 18650 elements - they produce their resources in different ways - so it makes sense to somehow disassemble these blocks and put batteries somewhere, for example, half the capacity (which have lost their 2500% after 20, and then More 20%, for example). Since Tesla does not produce batteries, this is the only way to get a lot of cheap 18650 “almost working” elements from somewhere - the capacities of which are not very good for the machine and OK for the wall battery.
The ad tells about the fact that two versions of the Powerwall battery will be produced - on 7 kilowatt-hours and on 10. At the cost of 3 and 3.5 thousands of US dollars. Also, the picture “Beautiful Tesla is beautifully charged from a wall-mounted battery, everything is so white and technologically advanced” - however, how to charge a car that has a kilowatt-hour battery from an 85 battery, in which 7 or 10 is a mystery that has not waited for its researcher.
The 85 kilowatt-hour machine charges from one 7 kilowatt-hour battery. To get around the corner and shoot, I guess.
(image 'The 85 kilowatt-hour machine is charged from one 7 kilowatt-hour battery. To get around the corner and shoot, I guess. ", click on the image to enlarge, the original size is 630 px on 293 px
The battery promised to give 2 kilowatts constantly and up to 3 in peak.
To illustrate, the benefits were shown, of course, signs like “That's how much the most expensive electricity costs, but how much is the cheapest at night, you just imagine ...” and other tinsel, which Ilf and Petrov described in the immortal “Citizens of New Vasyukov nothing a century ago will spend! They will love it! ”
Well, immediately after the announcement (in which it was promised to begin deliveries within a few months), after studying the technical specifications, the following was clarified - the entire declared scheme and financial component are simply invented. Let us see why.
Specified technical parameters - what capacity, what - especially! - power output, do not give any opportunity to operate the battery as indicated in the advertisement. In fact, if we assume that a hipster with a laptop lives in an apartment, then this power will be enough for a laptop, modem, light bulb and you can turn on the microwave. But there is no sense in hanging a battery in an apartment, because there is no place to put generating capacity, so the target audience is the owners of the cottages. And there immediately another list of consumers is all sorts of pumps for water, tracking cameras, external and internal lighting, household appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, stove, a lot of little things like a kettle, which, however, eats according to 1.5-2 kilowatts) as well as air conditioners, possibly underfloor heating and heaters, and of the entertainment part of computers, televisions, audio systems. All this for the sum in 2 kilowatts does not fit, and in peak-time 3 - too.
If you hang several batteries, this linearly increases the cost, and other issues arise.
For example, a security issue - how lithium batteries burn beautifully-detonate if damaged, you can see on YouTube - and estimate how a meter-sized battery pack crashes (for detonation, depressurization is enough - for example, someone on the other side of the wall will be careless drill). Therefore, the battery must be placed in a safe room, with good ventilation (i.e., plus air conditioning, plus costs). Further, the owner’s permission is required for its installation (for example, not everyone agrees to place such hazardous equipment in the mortgage house - and who agrees will increase the cost of insurance to cover the new potential risk).
By the way, installation itself, by the way, is a separate topic - in fact, you need to redo the entire network at home so that all sockets and fixed consumers can be connected to the battery (or battery pack), and the protection added (RCDs are the same) and the new circuit is installed from the general network and from generating capacity). Judging by the information on the Tesla website, some partners had to make this operation - as is clear, as a result, the price of all this from 3 thousand dollars goes very far.
Also, the losses on the inverter were completely ignored - for many believers in Mask it was a revelation that the current in the outlet is alternating and in the battery it is not - and that a special device is needed that will do this conversion. And that this device has its own efficiency - and not particularly good (for example, you can see the power supply for computers - there you will have to pay several times more for the power supply with the efficiency 80 + or 90 + than for the usual one). And the battery has efficiency - that is, on each charge-discharge from the common network, there is a double loss - on current conversion and on charge-discharge of the battery with non-100% m efficiency. And all this is heated, and it needs to be cooled - and this is also a power consumption.
The interesting situation with a guarantee is finishing up - the 10 warranty is on the battery for years, but it is on the battery as a device, and not on the battery modules. That is, the real resource in terms of the number of charge-discharge cycles is not indicated, and Tesla evades direct questions about it. This is understandable - after all, inside the battery, used 18650 modules from the car, their real life in cycles is incomprehensible, and these batteries themselves are not covered by the warranty. The logical scheme is when you buy, for example, a TV, because you get a remote with it, but no one says that replacing the batteries in the console during the warranty period for the TV is free.
And, of course, the generating capacity with the required parameters also costs money and needs maintenance and proper installation. In order to properly power such a battery, it will be necessary to have an impressive area of solar batteries or a wind turbine with 4 meter blades minimum - and all this needs space on the site (such a wind turbine will be problematic due to vibration) and again pay, pay, pay . Everything according to the precepts of the spiritual father I. Mask - comrade Mavrodi - the sucker has to pay.
The result of all this is simple - if the stated specifications are correct, then you can only use this in a country house, moreover, you will need several batteries, in a separate room, you will need to order an alteration of the entire electrical network of the house, plus installation and installation of a wind turbine or solar panels, plus an inverter ( and all this should be carried out by certified and authorized dealers, and the equipment - the same inverter - must be compatible with Powerwall), and as a result, the total consumption will only grow in general - because the network will appear I am a new load in the form of a battery, which will be discharged-charged with efficiency 100% m, and, therefore, to spend.
The total amount of the event will not be thousands of dollars 3, but somewhere in 10 more, plus there will be a fee for support (replacement of battery cells, maintenance of a wind turbine). It is possible to recoup all this by the difference in pennies on a day-night kilowatt for such a time, which makes the whole event meaningless - well, or it is necessary to increase electricity consumption to speed up the payback, but battery wear will accelerate - about which the manufacturer is tactfully silent, although this is an interesting item . Imagine, let's say that the kettle is turned on (normal, 2 kilowatt).
The battery switches to the “urgently give up to the maximum” mode. The kettle boils and turns off - the battery switches back to “background recharging”. Now the microwave - and again this situation, for a minute, a sharp consumption, and then - back. The charge-discharge cycles back and forth, the resource is ticking. But also security issues - such a thing in an apartment building cannot be mounted without the consent of neighbors (who wants to have such a bomb on the other side of the wall?), And in private - without increasing the cost of insurance.
When all this was published (I made a detailed posting with approximately the same text), as comments there were only tears “Mask genius, he will succeed - it is a pity that I cannot donate money for this battery in this country, however thanks to Mask in half a year there will be no Gazprom and rashki, then such batteries will be given to us by smiling American soldiers. ” It is logical - to say something essentially nothing. Moreover, it was not possible to give an example of the scenario in which this megabattery pays off. That is, if, for example, we assume that this is a big house with a plot - “solar panels will easily fit on the roof, plus there is always sun”, then in this clearly equatorial or tropical place there will be a large item on air conditioning costs, i.e. the larger the house, the greater the cost of electricity for the systems serving it. If the house is small - there is such consumption that the difference in price per kilowatt will have to pay off a century.
Then began the fun.
The fuckers ran to order, proud of "so I will soon join elite electricity ... the battery includes such ordinary electricity, but it turns out so prestigious, with rounded corners, for successful people who deserve it." Mask collected the dough and first of all for some reason changed the technical parameters of the batteries - saying that the versions on 7 and 10 kilowatts will be with different number of charging cycles, in particular, “the younger model will have about 500 cycles”.
What is about 500 cycles? This means that by remaking the entire power supply system in the house, in six months you will be forced to buy a new battery. And even less. 500 cycles are the cheapest Chinese 18650s, which are not LiFePo4, but ordinary LiFe, they are on a scooter (which has 1-2 cycles per day, i.e. you travel somewhere one-time and put it on overnight for charging, everything is simple ) You can kill for six months of normal operation.
The people were surprised, but continued to wait. After all, just about a battery on the wall can be hung and it will bring you money - so in advertising.
Passed “a few months” after May 2015.
2016 has come.
Silence.
In 2016, the reporter, using a drone for video, makes a panorama of the factory where Powerwall batteries were to be “produced”. The result is depressing - what should have been done “a few months after May, 2015, and the money can be donated now”, has not even fully got a roof.
State subsidies and investors' money are mastered - but not equipment in the shops, not even a finished “box”. As well as for some reason, there are no omnipresent and looking from each presentation Ilona Mask solar panels. In general, everything somehow looks lifeless. And this is February 2016, yes.
Against this background, other interesting questions begin: Study: A Tesla Powerwall pays for itself after nearly 40 years.
It turns out that in a certain “normal consumption” scenario, all the savings from a battery serving the whole house will be about 53 US cents per day.
As you know, thousands of costs in such a scenario will never pay back - the battery alone will be 3.5 thousand, and the recommended and certified SE7600A-USS inverter from SolarEdge's StorEdge will cost 3.5 thousands more dollars.
Even if we assume that all alterations of the power grid are free, installation is free, solar panels and wind turbines are free, then by 53 a cent you can pay back 7 thousand dollars approximately 14 thousand days - well, if zero wear and tear, the battery efficiency does not break, nothing is cooled, the battery is cooled from space, the conversion power loss is zero, and more. And this - if the difference between day and night rates - is almost 5 times. And if less ...
This idiocy "our system saves money and electricity - so let us, for example, to emphasize possible savings, increase the amount of electricity consumption, then we will save more", by the way, is absolutely familiar at the level of reflexes in a typical consumer - he was already told that the more you spend on the card, the more the discount, and he is already used to it - so do not laugh, this is no longer idiocy, this is already bytovuha.
The situation is heating up, people ask “Well, where is our battery?”, And then Andy Tucker takes the train ticket, removes the pot, gets a wig from his bag, changes clothes, and ... but we don’t have O. Henry, we have 2016y year, and everything even cooler.
Musk declares that the Powerwall batteries are dazzlingly successful so that everyone sold out - well, for those who donated money for the first version, you just have to wait for the second one, which will be in August! You're lucky friends!
The people begin to quietly ofigevat. The people look at the pictures of the unbuilt factory, where they were supposed to produce batteries last year. The people are interested, and who received from those who ordered? The people think about how it turns out that everybody enrolled in the queue, and somehow it passed unnoticed. The people are interested, but how did it all turn out, if there are no certified partners to install Powerwall so that you can’t find a successful installation history. People are looking for reviews on the Internet using Powerwall - well, think for it, don't have them, reviews. How is that? All this is swept aside with a laugh, “See, everything will be even more cool, we are a dynamic company!”.
Dazzling successful, you say?
Tesla, in general, declares that a certain Powerwall party was delivered, to some secret testers who were amazed at the genius and wisdom of the solution, but were so quietly amazed that nothing, silence, and wait for the new version.
In a letter to the shareholders, Tesla punctured what was delivered “about 2500” by Powerwall, moreover, you are going nuts! - they were supplied to another company Ilona Mask, SolarCity, for a pilot project in California, on state-owned 500 homes.
That is, there is no battery production, it has not yet been physically created All terms are profukany. Apparently, the stated technical parameters can not be reached. The next step is being taken - the batteries are ordered on the side (perhaps in China), manually assembled in the form of a small batch in the US, and one company Mask sells them to another company Mask - with zero leakage of information on actual performance and operating data. All this within the framework of the development of the state means of the rich state of California, i.e. the commercial side of the issue, any payback there and so on is absent as a class, even the contract price is unknown. And the result is “yes, we successfully made the batteries, we won, we are fine, wait for the second version”. And yet you say that Musk is a bad showman? Oi vey.
At the moment since the announcement and “in a few months we will change the world” more than a year has passed. The situation has not changed - the plant “is just about to be built”, those who signed up and donated the money “just about” will start supplying the batteries. Two of my friends who live in California and ordered Powerwall for themselves, on the day of this publication received from Tesla only a letter advertising the second version of the battery.
An annoying buyer came for a miracle, but it turns out that a miracle has not yet been invented

Yes, and one more thing - from the original two versions, on 7 and 10 kilowatt-hours, one remained - smaller. The ten-kilowatt battery was quietly removed from the site, and the 7 battery became the 6,4 battery. Such actions, as is clear, inspired even more customers who made a prepayment more than a year ago.
Such is the success of the resale of used Chinese 18650 elements in a beautiful package and with the obligatory payment of subscription service from certified partners, yes. Another breakthrough, everything is so technological, so successful, “Beautifully Functional” comes first in the list of the merits of the battery - well, you understand - and what are the rounded corners and the patented design, mmm ...
Let's go further. On the table is a soup of seven ...
hyperloops
The magazine “Young Technician” was ahead of its time (I still remember such a Polish “Horizons of technology for children” - oh, times, times) so that by copying ideas from it you can ensure a comfortable existence.
One of these ideas is something like an increased pneumatic mail system, only a train with people instead of a capsule with a letter, and electromagnets instead of air pressure.
The technical concept is beautiful, but rests on a bunch of implementation issues. The support of a vacuum in a pipe with a diameter of several meters, moreover, with very strong vibration (a multi-ton colossus with a speed of a bullet flies by), for hundreds of kilometers is a nontrivial thing. Maglev, in principle, has already been implemented - but again, the cost per kilometer he has is huge. Safety issues (depressurization of the car and all at once the dead, as well as the slightest deviation from the trajectory and departure from the road), the issues of organizing stations - a lot of questions.
But this is the sad tech-realists - and we are about a cheerful, dynamic, successful, positive humanist with a female name Ilona.
Mask takes on the job perfectly - in 2012, he reports that a new type of transport is about to be born. Which eclipse Concord. Which can be used on Mars. Which will be (I understand that deja vu, yes) environmentally friendly and cheap (???). And in 2013 shows a video with a train-in-pipe. All questions - a wide smile "Do not be afraid, just give money."
Nobody, in general, is afraid, everyone is wondering what will happen, since the method for solving technical problems mentioned above is not given.
Mask promises to make a demonstration and show everything. Years go by, the sect of believers in Mask already believes that everything in secret laboratories has been working for a long time, and again it is waiting for the end of world energy (this time also logistics). Secret laboratories are actually called Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) - and this is not a firm, it's about 500 engineers working under a part-time scheme who gather at a Skype conference once a week and discuss thoughts and hypotheses about the future of Hyperloop. Those. let's say honestly - this already shows that no one wants to invest seriously. In November, 2015 finally (three years from the beginning has passed) begins the construction of a test line, which is scheduled for completion in 32 a month. Test Pipes. 32 of the month.
In the meantime, it goes, the public show a completely epic spectacle. It consists in the fact that on a piece of railway in several hundred meters there is a trolley. Everyone applauds.
Apparently, on the video, a certain top-secret breakthrough, which finally gives an explanation to questions like “keep a vacuum for hundreds of kilometers in the tube” - maybe it just didn’t fit into the frame, the angle was unsuccessful.
However, this does not interfere in any way with carrying out active work on cold calls to potential customers - right up to Russian Railways. The liberal press, of course, is trying to pass it off as a “stupid rashka trying to somehow even stand next to a genius American hi-tech”, but in fact Musk is looking for someone who will fit into the topic - apparently, taking into account the development of the state budget and corresponding personal interest expressed as a serious percentage of the amount. Well, the idea is clear - it’s not American taxpayers ’money to master on“ this train will be needed on Mars when trains will be needed there! ”, But to breed Papuans from the colonies into beads.
At the moment, the situation is stable - until the next demonstration of a trolley traveling on a piece of rail more than a year, new drawings are being drawn, new videos are being rendered, children's contests of the level of the Soviet Palace of Pioneers “How do you see the train of the future” are being held, there are no investments. By the way, solar panels disappeared from presentations and drawings - an alarming symptom, because all of the fantasies of the Mask solar panels and the mantra “are environmentally friendly, technologically, free” are an essential component. The main financial secret “Like a pipe with a vacuum, plus a maglev, plus a train at the speed of sound, can cost less than a conventional railroad track per kilometer” remains a secret. Even a breakthrough that was understandable for the development of US state funds in the direction of “We used to lag behind everyone in the field of railway transport, especially from China, and now we’ll break into leaders!” Calmed down - they didn’t even give them money for this “restoration of reputation”.
thinking
American show business has gone through a long history - and at the moment is the most important tool for educating the gray mass of the American people. The necessary films are driven in, for example, an inferiority complex - that all successful heroes are not people, but mutants, or some special ones by birth - the approach is “you yourself can’t do anything, but if you were pecked by a rooster and you’d become A rooster, that's when ... for now, sit and wait, Superman will fly in and save you. ”
The formation of the image “We always, damn it, number one, we are not losers, we kick ass and always save our asses” goes in parallel - so that an ordinary American would wave a flag, be happy to live in a “successful” country and not worry. Did not think.
You know the phrase - “what do you reflect on” - something like this, yes. “You just don’t know how much fun we have here and don’t have to think about anything,” as it was written in “Predatory Things of the Century”. So that everything would be exactly like this, we need an illustrative successful showman who goes out in the light of spotlights to the screech of the idolizing crowd. Paying for their participation in the films (and this gives the result - I personally saw an adult from a large Moscow IT company who was sure that “Iron Man” is a documentary about Ilona Mask) and who pays for spreading rumors to himself.
And - what is key - collecting money for this sight and a sense of belonging to Haythu from the audience.
American classics - "worship" with dances and songs, after which it is necessary to throw off a large bill for the needs of the church.
Well, there are ways to generate income for everyone. That does not negate the fact that this religion of “chanting haith idols and their fictional holy acts”, like any other, is the opposite of science and development, and slips bright and noisy, but only an imitation of progress - however, the average person needs bread and spectacles?
With this, everything is OK.
And further. I guess what kamenty will be here - so let's be clear right away.
1. I have money for Tesla. Unlike 99.9% of typical senior managers for sawing rollbacks on wholesale batches of servers for Russian Railways, tied to Mask, and so on.
2. The cry of "OIVYVSYYYRONSYTHESEASY I DIDN'T READ AHAHA ALREADY LAUGHTER - MASK GOD" is not considered an argument and is considered an expression of personal pain.
3. The approach “I went to write something that didn’t bother me at all, we, calm wise chuckling successful ko-ko-ko seems to be covering” is considered the beginning of an attack and requires medical intervention.
