The newly minted Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Igor Nasalik, who replaced Vladimir Demchishin in this post, immediately identified priorities in the energy sector. According to the Ukrainian minister, the state will begin to deepen the partnership with US energy companies. During the meeting with the American ambassador Jeffrey Payette, Nasalik said that Ukraine plans to increase the volume of purchases of fuel cells for Ukrainian nuclear power plants from an American company Westinghouse.
According to Nasalik, purchases of nuclear fuel from Westinghouse grow to 30% of Ukrainian volumes.

For Ukraine, further cooperation with Westinghouse is important in order to diversify nuclear fuel sources at Ukrainian NPPs. This demonstrates the commitment to the course of deep and systemic reforms in Ukraine.
Thus, Mr. Nasalik argues that the implementation of "deep and systemic reforms" in Ukraine can go to the detriment of even the country's nuclear security.
