Another Topol-M complex put on combat duty
Another Topol-M in Tatischevsky junction was put into operation. This was the representative of Spetsstroy Russia told reporters on Tuesday."In the Tatishchevsky district (Saratov region), on the eve of the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces, the specialists of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise GUSST No. 5 at Spetsstroy of Russia transferred the next Topol-M complex to the missile men," the Spetsstroy representative said.
Earlier, Lieutenant-General S. Karakayev, commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, said that before the start of 2012 in the Tatishchevsky missile compound, 4 of Topol-M silo launchers would be put on combat duty.
The representative of the Ministry noted that the commissioning of the complex will provide an opportunity to take over on duty the next unit of the Strategic Missile Forces on duty.
It is also planned to supply before the end of the year two divisions "Yars" - mobile missile systems. They will be placed in the Teikov missile compound (Ivanovo region).
The sixth missile regiment was put on test combat duty in this compound in December 2010. It consists of a command post and two launchers of the Topol-M complex.
The Topol-M, compared with the Topol complex, its predecessor, has significantly improved operational and combat capabilities. This was achieved by adapting the combat equipment to the missile defense system, the secrecy of reconnaissance assets, and increased mobility characteristics.
