Start of mass production of dual-controlled Mi-28HE helicopters

51
The press service of the concern "Rostec" announces the start of mass production of Mi-28HE helicopters with dual control. Production is handled by Rostvertol, which creates helicopters so that they can be controlled by both a pilot and a pilot-operator performing the functions of an instructor. This simplifies the process of learning to control the Mi-28HE helicopters.

Start of mass production of dual-controlled Mi-28HE helicopters

From the message of the general director of the company "Helicopters of Russia" Alexander Mikheev:
The unique capabilities of the new combat helicopter offer excellent prospects for its implementation both in Russia and abroad.

According to Alexander Mikheev, two contracts for the supply of Mi-28HE helicopters to foreign countries are already underway.

It should be recalled that the first prototype of the dual-control Mi-28HE helicopter appeared in the 2014 year. And last year, the rotary-wing machine passed state tests.

Mi-28HE - all-weather attack helicopter that can destroy enemy armored vehicles, hit low-speed targets flying at low altitudes. Its functions include the implementation of aerial reconnaissance, as well as the targeting of other military helicopters and aircraft.

One of the important advantages of the Mi-28HE helicopter with dual controls is its high maneuverability and firepower.

The armament of the updated “Night Hunter” with dual controls: a cannon mount with a 30 mm caliber cannon, as well as guided and unguided missiles.

The cab is armored and protects the crew from armor-piercing ammunition, including bullets and shells in caliber up to 20 mm. When creating the updated “Night Hunter”, special materials and new constructive solutions were applied, which allows to increase its resistance to combat damage.

From the message the press service of "Rostec":
The blades of the main propeller Mi-28HE with dual controls are made of composite materials, which allows you to safely complete the flight when they hit projectiles caliber 20-30 mm. The design of the fuel system eliminates the explosion or ignition of fuel. Among other things, the helicopter has the lowest possible visibility for ground-based air defense. The upgraded Mi-28HE is equipped with an integrated avionics system. The use of this complex with the use of cartographic information allows the search, detection and recognition of ground and air targets, the determination of their coordinates and the issuance of target designation to ground and air command posts.

The crew in the cockpit of the Mi-28HE with dual controls - tandem. Designers have reported an increase in ergonomics in the cab of a rotary-wing machine and an improvement in visibility.

It's just a shame that we get new cars, with the principle of a "glass cockpit", but we continue to fight by eye like MI-24. Oh yes, there is an optoelectronic station.

The fact is that this is an "overseas" helicopter - for Algeria.
Rosoboronexport signed a contract on December 26, 2013 for the supply of 42 Mi-28NE dual-control helicopters to Algeria, sold by Rostvertol. Algeria became the second foreign customer of Mi-28NE helicopters after Iraq, which ordered 15 aircraft in 2012. The first Algerian helicopter was flown in September 2015.

According to the article, one can say 30 years later .. And on your question, the radar itself seems to be there, but the problem is that it is installed in a place with a very high level of vibration and does not give the expected operating time, there is a very high probability of not predicted failures, that is, a failure in any moment .. To solve the problem of vibration Miles cannot be a structural problem and you can solve it by completely redesigning this unit which you naturally don’t want to do (it’s easier to make a new helicopter), they are trying to make radars resistant to vibrations, but this has not been possible for decades .. By my mind you need to finish the circus with a pair of MI-28 \ Ka-52, revive the Ka-50 at a new level, make a bunch of KA50 \ KA52, and MI-28 fully export-oriented, this is what the Mi-28 is ideal for because the machine is simple grown from MI-24 without an airborne squad and rooted in Mi-8, respectively, in the countries where it will be sold this equipment knows what will give additional trump cards when choosing ..

The basis of the on-board electronic equipment of the Mi-28N helicopter and its main "highlight" is the Arbalet radar. As with the AN / APG-78 Longbow, the antenna for this station is located inside the fairing. on the rotor hub.The Crossbow station has a larger viewing sector of the underlying surface compared to AN / APG-78, its width is 120 degrees. The maximum range of "visibility" of the radar is 32 km.

I do not quite agree with you. Grown from MI 24, MI35. Mi-28N, in turn, was created as a significant reworking of its "older brother" Mi-24, which did not receive a cargo compartment, but acquired new weapons and avionics.

The good news is that two contracts have been signed for the supply of 42 units to Algeria and 30 units of MI28NE to Iraq.

As was originally conceived. The Ka-50 is combat, and the Ka-52 is command. The Ka-50 flight characteristics are an order of magnitude higher. At the current level of electronics, this will not be difficult. But you can’t refuse the Mi-28 either, it has its own advantages, and it occupies its niche with dignity. hi

Duc and I about exporting the KA-50 \ Ka-52 to us Mi-28, the troops do not need two completely different machines but with the same tasks and approximate combat effectiveness, and the KA-50 is really a breakthrough there was a mess with the navigational complex but it was in the 80s, and today it is categorically not so, there are the most accurate satellite systems, micro-gyroscopic navigators are approaching, the power of cheap processors allows you to work with virtually any amount of data, as well as memory stores, to store any map information .. So, there’s little to do make a decision on the revival and modernization of the KA-50 in the end, this, in addition to increased combat effectiveness, will also give significant cost savings. One pilot is not a cynical funeral, not two .. Yes and one is easier to learn than to create a truly effective crew ..

I had a chance to sit both in MI-28 and in KA-52 and talk to knowledgeable people, here are some of the conclusions that came out, even at the level of performance MI-28 loses much to KA-52, everything in 28m was done with an ax and a sledgehammer and somehow careless , but Kashka, on the contrary, is all graceful and chiseled, and the people Kashka praised them saying that in aerobatics, Mi was not next to it, as well as in instrumental equipment, not to mention the accuracy of the gun .. As I was told, MI-28 was born stillborn. I could not give anything new .. The only thing that is good with MI-28 is the availability of production and export potential, it is clear that any new machine is better than the old ones that are in the troops, but when I speak of a single series of attack helicopters, I suggest looking into the future. do not say the economy rules, a car of the same type will save colossal money for the country and remove the fierce crap in maintaining their combat readiness.

Yes, these probably also unfastened. Here is what the constructor writes:
Considering the various systems for rescuing the crew, Milevts initially refused to bail out with the firing of the rotor blades, but on the Mi-28N they nevertheless installed pyro-bolts for fixing the blades. The rescue system works according to one of two algorithms that are currently worked out and comprehensively tested:
        1. In the event of an emergency or catastrophic destruction of the structure at an altitude of more than 100 m, first the propeller blades, wing consoles and doors of both cabins are fired off, then forced pull belts are cut with special cutters, special "ladders" are inflated - ballonets that do not allow the crew to touch the landing gear when leaving or a swiveled cannon, and the crew leaves the car with parachutes.
        2. In the same situation, but at an altitude of less than 100 m, a forced belt tightening system is triggered, reliably fixing the crew in the Pamir-K energy-absorbing seats developed by the Zvezda Design Bureau. First, the impact energy is absorbed by the main landing gear, which, deforming, absorb it. Next, seats come into operation, which are able to extinguish the vertical overload of 50-60 g to 15-17 g, providing injury safety to the pilot and navigator-operator.
The chassis of the Mi-28 family helicopters is non-retractable, which is due to the small margin of time during an emergency landing. In this situation, the retractable landing gear, and even more so the landing gear, which is closed with flaps, may not have time to leave the niches, thereby transferring all the energy to the fuselage, which will inevitably lead to catastrophic destruction. In addition, the fixed landing gear allowed the helicopter to "lose weight" due to the absence of gear folding and retracting mechanisms. The main landing gear on the Mi-28N are made energy-intensive, they deform in a special way during a rough landing, extinguishing a significant part of the impact energy.

Among other things, the helicopter has the lowest possible visibility for ground-based air defense systems.

I don’t notice a big difference in contours with prototypes, a screw made of composites, I agree, visibility can reduce. Probably the coating of the machine itself was corrected by the same composites.
