According to the Internet edition DNI.RU., Iran’s air defense forces shot down an American aircraft. He carried out reconnaissance over the territory of the country.
"Air defense units managed to detect and shoot down an American reconnaissance drone that violated the airspace of the Islamic Republic from the east," a source in Iran’s security agencies said. According to him, we are talking about the device RQ-170.
The source indicated that the drone received minor damage when it fell. After that, he was captured by the Iranian military. However, the official comment from the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic has not yet arrived.
However, a source in Tehran warned that in the future, the fight against US intelligence drones can also be carried out abroad. "Given the obvious violation of the country's air borders, the actions of the Iranian electronic and operational defense forces will also extend to areas on the other side of the country's state borders," the state's defense circles emphasized.
Note that a few months ago, the air defense units of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps already announced the destruction of the American drone. At that time, the unit was shot down in the area of the Ford nuclear facility near the city of Qom. At the beginning of the year, the Iranian military claimed that they had hit two more UAVs used by US specialists. However, in the United States Department of Defense data on the loss of aircraft refuted, reports RIA News.
