Interfax reports that Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov has announced this. However, Chirkov did not specify the exact number of systems supplied by the military, but noted that the supply of S-400 is part of the replacement program for S-200 air defense systems.
According to the commander, at one of the test sites, at present, the personnel of the air defense unit of the Baltic Fleet are engaged in firing using C-400. Also, these firing are acceptance tests. In the case of recognition of their success, military equipment will be adopted by the fleet. C-300 complexes today form the basis of the ground defense of the Baltic Fleet.
The delivery of new military equipment for the Navy is carried out in the framework of the state defense order-2011. The acquisition of the Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems is also provided for by the state program for the procurement of Russian weapons 2011-2020. Funding for this program will be approximately 23 trillion. rubles. The state program involves the acquisition within ten years of the 56 divisions of the C-400 air defense missile systems, each for 8 launchers.
