Interfax reports that a new submarine B-237 Rostov-on-Don was laid down at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg under project 636.3 Varshavyanka. This ship will be transferred to the Black Sea the fleet Of Russia. The Admiralty Shipyards will build a total of six submarines under project 636.3 according to the contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, signed on September 5, 2011. All ships will be built by 2016 and will also be transferred to the Black Sea Fleet.
In addition, "Admiralty Shipyards" are building the first submarine B-261 "Novorossiysk" on the revised project 636. The customer will receive this ship in 2013. Until the end of 2014, two more such submarines should be built. The design of submarines for the Black Sea Fleet has received a number of changes that take into account the conditions of their operation on the Black Sea.
The renewal of the Black Sea Fleet is carried out within the framework of the Russian state armaments program 2011-2020. The amount of funding will be 23 trillion rubles. It is planned that in the fleet the number of modern ships to 2030 year will be 35-40 units. In particular, Sevastopol will supply six Varshavyanka submarines of the 636.3 project, six frigates (the 11356 (1135.6) project), corvettes of the 20385 project, as well as about ten small artillery and small rocket ships.
