Media: UAE received torpedo ships disguised as auxiliary vessels
According to the publication, “the SeaHake Mod 4 ER electric torpedo is a modernized export version of the DM2A4 electric torpedo, which is in service with German and several other naval submarines, and has made it possible to increase the number of batteries and dramatically increase the range of the course. "
It is reported that the torpedo "has a mast periodically raised on the main course with a GPS equipment receiver, providing correction of the output of the torpedo to the target area, including the possibility of movement along a complex route."
According to the magazine, "in the final section, the torpedo uses a passive sonar guidance system." SeaHake Mod 4 ER can be used both from a torpedo tube and from a mobile coastal installation on a car chassis.
The government of Germany in the official report on the export of weapons to 2014 confirmed the sale in the UAE of "two floating platforms with devices for launching torpedoes" and "sonar detection devices."
These platforms, according to the report, are two 58-meter "multipurpose auxiliary vessels A 61 Rmah and A 62 Afaq", built by Nobiskrug Werft in Rendsburg on the order of the United Arab Emirates.
Externally, the vessels resemble sea tugs, in the stern of which there is a place to accommodate standard containers. Both ships were delivered to the customer in October 2014 by the transport vessel Richards Bay.
