Charged last Bulgarian submarine
On November 1, 2011, in the main naval base of the Bulgarian Navy Varna a ceremony was held to lower the naval flag at the last Bulgarian fleet submarine - "Glory".
The average diesel-electric submarine of the 633 "Slava" project was built at the Red Sormovo shipyard (No. 112) for the USSR Navy in 1959-1960 as С-36 (factory number 343) and entered the Soviet fleet 30 September 1960 of the year. December 28 The 1985 of the year was transferred to the Bulgarian Navy and became part of the Bulgarian 8-th separate submarine division as "Glory" (tail number 84) based on Varna. As a result, "Glory" was the last submarine of the Bulgarian fleet, the path of which ended November 1 and 2011.
The second similar Bulgarian submarine “Nadezhda” (tail number 83, former Soviet C-38, transferred to 20 in January 1983) was excluded from the Bulgarian Navy 27 in June 2008. In April, the 2009 of the year “Nadezhda” was formally transferred to the city authorities of Varna to become a museum, but in fact nothing was done in this direction and the last two years the decommissioned boat has been rusting, being moored to “Glory”. The Slava itself was also transferred to the Varna authorities after the flag was lowered to be converted into a museum instead of Nadezhda, while the creation of the museum on Slava is planned to be done by selling the former Nadezhda for scrap. Whether these plans will come true - time will tell.
