CNN's Turkish branch spreads a message about the fight on the border of Turkey and Syria. According to CNN TÜRK, near the settlement of Kilis, the Turkish military were fired upon. As a result of the shelling, one soldier was killed, two more were injured and sent to the nearest hospital. According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, shelling was carried out (conducted) from Syrian territory. Turkish troops began firing back into Syrian territory. According to some reports, the shootout continues.
Kilis is a city in southeastern Turkey, part of the Southeast Anatolia region.
Official Ankara reports on the need to increase the concentration of the military in the border areas in connection with threats from the Syrian side. Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, on the eve of the shelling (a few days after the terrorist attack in Suruç), stated that it was necessary to create a полноцен full-fledged security shield ’in southeastern Turkey in connection with the activation of the militants of the so-called Islamic State. According to some information, the 5-I armored brigade from Gaziantep will be involved in the creation of a “security shield”.
Earlier it was reported about the plans of the Turkish government to build a wall on the border with Syria. Information about the readiness to build a concrete fence with a height of about 3,5 meters along the border (more than 900 km) was confirmed by the head of the Turkish government Ahmet Davutoglu.
