In mid-May of this year, China began factory running trials of the ocean-going large patrol ship CCG 2901, built for the Coast Guard, reports blog Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies.
The ship, the total displacement of which, according to various sources, ranges from 10 to 12 thousand tons, was launched on December 2014 of the year. At the moment it is the largest patrol ship on the planet of special construction.
It was built by the new Shanghai shipyard Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding and Heavy Industry Corporation of the company Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) of the company Shanghai Shipbuilding Company of Shanghai, which is part of the Chinese state shipbuilding corporation China Shipbuilding State Corporation (CSSC). Currently, another similar ship CCG 3901 is being built there.
It is worth noting that until recently, the largest patrol ships in the world of special construction were the ships of the Coast Guard of Japan PLH 31 Shikishima and PLH 32 Akitsushima, the total displacement of which is 9000 tons.
