The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Viktor Chirkov, the general director of the “Shipyard” Alexander Buzakov and the Vice-Governor Sergey Movchan.
“It is symbolic that today, on the eve of the 70 anniversary of the Great Victory, we are launching the fourth submarine of this series for the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” said Chirkov. - A lot of work ahead. Two more boats are to be completed, and then there will be new generation boats - the 677 project. ”
Submarines modified project 636.3 compared with the previous ones have a higher combat effectiveness.
According to the company's specialists, “the optimal combination of acoustic stealth and target detection range, the latest inertial navigation system, a modern automated information management system, powerful high-speed torpedo-rocket armament ensure world priority for ships of this class in the field of non-nuclear submarine shipbuilding.”
Recall, the Black Sea will receive 6 submarines of this project. Two of them have already been handed over to the fleet, the third - "Stary Oskol" - is being tested and will be handed over to the Navy in June. The fifth and sixth submarines ("Veliky Novgorod" and "Kolpino") are in the building slipway period.
