Parade in Tehran

4
Continuing the theme of military parades that were literally recently held in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, one cannot miss the attention of the parade that took place on September 23 in Tehran - the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The USSR and its successor, the Russian Federation, have long-standing relations in the field of military-technical cooperation with Iran. Moreover, these relations are often of a very complicated nature, where more politics than economics prevails. I plan to tell more about military-technical cooperation with Iran later, but for now we are watching photos and videos from there, stating the fact of Iran’s absolute lag in the field of weapons from its closest neighbors: Pakistan and Turkey. At the same time, the NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan create a real threat to the territorial integrity and independence of the Islamic Republic, which has the label "Axis of Evil" with George Bush. The aspirations of the US and its satellites in this case are clear - Iran is rich in natural resources, directly borders with the former Soviet republics from the north (Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkmenistan), and across the Caspian Sea and with Russia.

First of all, I was interested in Iranian armored vehicles:
Parade in Tehran
T-72Z / Safir-74 - not to be confused with the real Soviet T-72. This is just a T-55 with a 105mm gun and equipped with dynamic protection.

Tanks T-72S - equipped with a complex of guided weapons, they are a formidable force, but can no longer be considered modern and require comprehensive modernization.

Pay attention to the caterpillars of these T-72C, trampling the US flag - this is the so-called. The "new" Russian caterpillar, installed in particular on the T-90А / С tanks. its feature is the possibility of using asphalt polymer linings.

On the tractor tank M60

In Iran, the antiquity as the tank М47

The BMP-2 also needs upgrading.

Armored personnel carriers BTR-60 have long been asking for a replacement.

Ersatz-ZSU: BMP-2 with ZU-23 - and not whether to put the Russian Federation to replace them "Tunguska-M1"?

BREM based on T-55

Interesting photo and video. Frankly, I did not expect Iran to have so many Russian weapons.
