Mine launcher UR-100Н УТТХ

49
Kaluga Region, the city of Kozelsk, where the 28-I Guards Red Banner Rocket Division (Kozel Rocket Division) is deployed.

Point. In appearance - the usual glade in the forest, fenced with a perimeter. On the territory there are two houses and a pair of dilapidated barns. in the photo is the entrance to the pattern (the underpass to the guardhouse).

Mine launcher UR-100Н УТТХ

Watchman.

Finally, silos. In fact, it is a hole in the ground, covered with a lid. Or, as it is more correct to say - a protective device.

In this mine she was on combat duty UR-100N UTTH. Tanks with fuel ampulated. During the entire period of operation, the rocket is in a filled state in a transport-launch container that provides the required temperature conditions.

To descend into the mine, you first need to climb down a small platform and then cram into a very close elevator.

Now the fate of this silo is being decided. Either it will be reclaimed (roughly speaking, dismantled and buried), or converted to a new PC-24 missile system.

In the missile launcher TPK missiles secured by a highly effective shock absorption system, providing additional protection of the missile from the effects of the damaging factors of a nuclear explosion.

The bottom of the mine.

The length of the rocket is 24,3 meters. Plus TPK length, plus clearances and all that. So I estimate the depth of the mine at about 30 meters.

UR-100Н УТТХ - rocket with a hot gasdynamic launch. This means that the main engines are included directly in the TPK and the rocket starts from the mine. And then there is the mortar launch, when at first the rocket is fired with a powder charge from the mine, and only then the main engines are activated.

The initial service life of the UR-100N UTTH rocket, put on alert in 1979, was 10 years. Now, according to the results of control shots, it has been extended to 31. As of July 2009, in the Kozelsk missile division, 29 missiles were on combat duty. And in total in Russia at that time there were 70 MBRs against 360 installations during the period of maximum deployment of the complex.

Silos in all its glory.

Elevator for descent down. When there is a TPC with a rocket in the mine, the elevator moves in the narrow space between them.

Suspension element.

The protective device weighs, by the way, 150 tons and is able to withstand a nuclear explosion. It opens completely in a few seconds. In extreme cases, it is even shot by squibs.

See the two white hemispheres on the opposite side? These are nuclear explosion detectors.

In a similar car, which has a dual-roof "roof", carry the head parts. These are six warheads of individual guidance with nuclear charges of the middle class of power.

One of the installers. There are two of them (part of the second is in the background). Why are there two of them and what they specifically do - we tactfully kept silent about it. Maybe one pulls the warhead out of TPK and reloads the product to the car for transportation, and the second transports only the rocket itself? I do not know.

The second installer.

The insides of the first.

The installer TPK carries MAZ-537 - military four-axle truck tractor.

Two installers.

Finally - a few sketches of military life.

So these photos are about the same age ... Now in the Kozelsk division everything looks different, I mean the barracks and the canteen. Although the American base "Malstrom" in Montana, due to its wretchedness, will still give a head start ... They studied combat experience there in exchange, Now it is known for drug addiction scandals and officers writing off credits
There will be 3 regiments of 10 missiles. So 30 Yars. And there were 60 mines hectare(Stiletto) with 360 RGCH. the rearmament of the Kozelsky and Novosibirsk missile divisions should be completed by the beginning of 2015.

Great report. Interesting photos. I was struck by the fact that the depth of the mine for the product is 30 meters, this is actually a ten-story house.
Another moment, as always sadly surprised another. Well, what the hell is this with us, to do unique things — rockets, ships, satellites, but at the same time it does not care about the facilities serving these ships, satellites, rockets.
In the photo - a curve, a rickety house-entrance to the pattern. Green paint is probably already painted over the hundredth layer of the electrical panel. Nearby is a sadly showered whitewash, adjacent to curved corners. Photo of a command phone, with a half-torn tag, hastily printed on the printer and covered with adhesive tape. It would seem that it does not affect combat efficiency, missiles will fly, the ships will go on a campaign, the tanks will find a target. But in the general formidable appearance, the detail of negligence is felt everywhere and everywhere, they say we can, but not yet. It's a pity. You don’t have to go too far, but in the photographs where our potential adversary of NATO is there, everything is neat, collected, businesslike. And we have a paradox. Billions of rubles are worth a missile, which in reliability and power more than covers the products of a potential enemy, and regular tags on the phone can not be ordered. How to explain this? The same is true in civilian life. Sorry.

Oh well, you read and see yesterday's material about the state of the US nuclear shield. We don’t need such efficiency and for nothing, one set of special keys for servicing special items for several position areas in different states is worth nothing.

But I’m wondering, was it really all there? A set of keys, a postman. We were not there. Perhaps this is a clever attempt by the Pentagon or the nuclear technology lobby to increase funding.
And we are happy. "hahaha - they don't even have the keys." Uh-huh. But everything is clean, neat, on the shelves. Everything starts small. It is foolish to scrub your boots 8 times a day if the rocket is rotten through and through. But it is even more stupid to rejoice at the stupidity that was thrown from the outside, and which there is no way to verify. It's called laziness. Russian laziness. I understand, the answer is not to your taste. But how it really is.

Everyone sees what he wants to see. You saw (just I don’t understand where) a rotten rocket, and boots torn eight times. You saw crumbling plaster and curved corners on a secondary building not participating in the main mission of the entire complex. You saw a torn tag, and where would you be in the army without it, and on the basis of all this you conclude that not everything is in order in the kingdom. Specialists saw that the complex carried out work corresponding to the regulations, serviceable maintenance facilities and the installations (mines) themselves, the order in the storage facilities and the condition of the equipment. So continue to lie on the couch and believe that the Americans have everything clean and tidy and do not believe the lazy Russians who just do that they do nothing and explain it with thousands of excuses. After all, you yourself are too lazy to go to serve in the Armed Forces of Russia and put in place an exemplary order. I understand the answer is not to the taste. But there really is. Something so dear. And you, the tag came off.

Reputation indeed, wonderful, Comrade Lieutenant General. This aggression is the whole answer.
Firstly, specifically about a rotten rocket and tattered boots it is said in a figurative sense, however, not everyone has an understanding that there is a figurative meaning. My mistake. In vain wrote.
Secondly, where does such knowledge about the "secondary" building come from? Are you a rocket scientist? Then I'll shut up. And even if a rocketman, what the hell is stopping you from doing exactly? Well that's what? Only specifically.
Thirdly, I absolutely do not believe and did not believe that everything is always smooth and smooth with the Americans. This is bullshit. But there is one interesting example that makes you think. My father served in the GSVG in the 80s. The equipment of the GDR army was supplied by the Soviet Union. Accordingly, almost all samples (many) were the same. So, to the point. Father told me. Attending the exercises of the GDR army. BMP-1 in the trench. Absolutely all (!) Accessories are in place, crowbar, ax, saw, shovels - in good condition, not with gnawed cuttings and bent teeth. Everything that should be included in the kit is available. Above the driver's head is a cork pad, so that during the ride (in a helmet, of course, anticipating smirks), the head suffers less from shaking. So on every machine. And many more little things that brighten the life and everyday life of a soldier. But with an emphasis on the fact that no one will give a fighter to "get high" and run away from service. The unit is not exemplary, the usual combatant. Regarding the exercises, the Germans studied military affairs very diligently and did not spare themselves, so that all these things were used in full. Upon arrival at his place, my father discussed this many times in the company of officers in the gashtette (tavern), because it was a little different with us.
Of course, you can say, and where are those Germans, with their shovels? We tore them up. And this will be the most idiotic answer.
We must respect the staunchness and courage of the Russian soldier, who has always been defending Russia. And he managed without clean shovels. But here is the question. What the hell is stopping you from acquiring a shovel and not gnawing at the corner of the house and doing it exactly, if billions have gone and go on defense?
If there is a specific answer, without a hint of "sofa" - I will only be glad. Thanks.

Here you are from your father and ask what hindered and hinders to this day. Apparently he did not tell you this, but only to the officers in the gash. My father also served in the SSHG (I graduated from high school N59) and I have visited my father and I more than once in German units, so I don’t know what German ordnung is. There’s only one thing, but my father always taught me how to do any business AS FOR YOURSELF, for which many thanks to him, although I also visited the gashtet. Well, I know about the soldier’s service not by hearsay that he served an urgent school from then until then, an army school, an academy, and now now a pension. So to understand what is primary in the troops and what secondary and auxiliary I know how. About figurative meanings to write nebudu, philosophy is not my path. For sim, I have the honor.

He told me, he told me. And the answer is on the surface. Finally got to him. There he is:

"My father also served in the GSVG (I finished school N59 there) and I visited German units with my father more than once, so I know not by hearsay what the German Ordnung is. There is only one thing, but my father always taught me to do any business AS FOR YOURSELF, for which many thanks to him, although I also went to the gate. "

Unfortunately, not everyone has this principle. There is another principle: "It's not mine. And so it will do." Or: "I'm not paid enough for this. But if it's enough, I'll show you."
So, you should not be offended when I called ordinary laziness as the reason for the photos I criticized. Everyone is lazy, and in the same America. That's just lazy all the same in the West is not profitable. And it's worth learning from. But. This is a topic for another conversation.

                Thanks for the answer)

whence such knowledge about the "secondary" building.

The guardroom (by carp, built of prefabricated reinforced concrete) can only be entered through a hatch with an electric contact lock on the roof of the "secondary building" and an underground porch (passage). The carp has two floors, one underground, then the first floor and a rotating roof, an armored firing structure, where a PKT machine gun with a night and day optical sight is installed. On the windows of the carpom there are armored guards with loopholes and anti-grenade nets. The calculation of the protection and defense of the object consists of three people: a sergeant and two shooters, who intercede on a 3-hour 4-XNUMX day combat duty and they carry it in shifts. They themselves cannot leave with a carp (the lock is opened only at the command of a superior officer), they are provided with everything necessary for a full period of duty.

Perhaps so. It is not clear what kind of keys we are talking about. There are a lot of varieties from the spare parts to the inserts of the design bureau and the keys of combat crew. And spare parts are a lot of things that can be transported, impossible, operational, etc. I don’t remember anything. Most likely, the operational spare part is not replenished. Time is not written off and scrolled. If we talk about wrenches and open-end wrenches, we also don’t have time to blink an eye on how to get out of the garages and write off the instrument is not so easy, you just need to provide about the same broken wrench to draw up an act to write off the application and wait when it appears in the warehouse ...

All this is fixed by numerous trainings and introductory both in the course of carrying out the database and in preliminary preparation.
Their calculation is on duty for a day without changing with us for six hours in two calculations for 3-4 days. To launch the missiles of the entire squadron (50 ICBMs), coordinated actions of the calculations of two command posts (or, in an extreme situation, the calculation of one command post and the calculation of the EC-135 "Looking Glass" air command post) were required. The ICBM was launched after receiving a special order and checking it by both officers. To start the test, a special code word was entered into the test and locking equipment, each officer inserted his key into a special well, after which the officers simultaneously (within 2 seconds) turned the keys 1/4 turn and kept them in this state for 5 seconds . The ICBM was launched within 30 seconds after the missile control system received an launch order.
We have approximately the same thing, only the ordering officer and the ciphers verify the calculation head, the operator monitors the status of the control room and participates in joint actions.

curve, rickety house-entrance to the pattern. Green paint is probably already painted over the hundredth layer of the electrical panel.

A rickety house is for disguise. wink
But the applied shade of green ( wassat ) - rather the opposite.

No, the Tatishchevskys were freshly painted. Last spring, there were service staff, which I do not know, but the fairings were removed

Interestingly, in the frames where the shaft cover is open, mass is on the lifting mechanism. Neatly laid out. It would be logical to simply remove it. Is the lifting mechanism secret?

What exactly intrigued? The presence of squibs or a way to open? It’s one thing to open for regulations and quite another for launch.

Most likely, the squibs are just like hydraulics boosters, a complete shooting of the cover is pointless and dangerous, but it can also roll back and lie on the mine shaft.
I think that we are even talking about pyrotechnic pushers, like a hydraulic cylinder, their task is to toss the lid partially or completely.
There is reason to believe that this is a backup system in case of hydraulic failure.

When I served in the missile army in 1982-1984, this division was under our command. Looking at the mine, I recalled a case, but I can’t say in this division that it happened or in another, but it doesn’t matter. So, after the training launch, it is supposed to carry out a one-hour regulation in the mine (after all, everything burns out there). So during the regulations, the elder (captain by rank) fell into this mine, but did not reach the bottom, and on the flight path he caught hold of something by a sword belt. Not crashed, pulled it out. After this incident, the captain greatly washed down, and later moved off his mind. They could not cure to the end and had to fire him.

This mine has the most important and expensive "skeleton", i.e. reinforced concrete structures. The "stuffing" of the mine (the control systems for energy and life support, etc.) is also not cheap, but still cheaper than the "skeleton".
The fact that everyone who wanted to know about the coordinates of the mine has long been known is a secondary issue, since with modern means of intelligence, no one succeeds in hiding such a "fool", and no one is particularly trying.
The main thing is that there should be a decent "flying machine" in the mine and that it could take off before ... Well, and those who are in the mine, how lucky. Like everyone else who is not in the mines

the mine is good even as a blende, and with a possible counteraction to a possible attack. The funds are already being worked out, then for another decades it will serve as a warm hello to partners.

It’s interesting, but the special officer of the unit was looking at this photo story and how did he miss the photo with the phone and the consumption (LAST) of the particular unit? Why make life easier for sworn enemies? The report is interesting, but the photo with the names is superfluous. Someone said that intelligence receives 90% of information from open sources.

The hatch has an electric lock - it is controlled by the 505th (operational duty officer) of the regiment from the mine command post, what kind of "guardhouse" is this, there is not a watchman guarding a cowshed on a collective farm, but a duty combat crew performing the task of protecting and defending a special military facility importance, therefore, "guardhouse", well, in extreme cases "carp". At the top of the carpom there is an armored firing structure, it rotates, a PKT machine gun with a telescopic sight was installed there, anti-grenade nets on the windows, armored guards with loopholes from the inside, the "roof" lift is covered for some reason, I don't think there is already something secret there, most likely it is masked the shine of the polished rod-lever, the rocket jet splitter, shown at the very bottom of the silo in the slang of missilemen, for its shape is called "bell", but in general, thanks to the author, I remembered the good old days.
