Duty on space. Day of the Space Forces of Russia
The commemoration of the Day of the Space Forces in our country began in 2002. It did not take long to choose a date for this holiday, and it is quite clear why. The state, which was the first in the world to launch an artificial satellite of the Earth, could not pass by this memorable day. The launch of Sputnik-1 was held on 4 on October 1957 of the year. It was 4 of October that was decided to use as the date of the celebration of the Day of the Space Forces.
During its existence in the status of a separate branch of the KV troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the task was accomplished consisting of four main parts:
it is the control of outer space;
regional missile defense (for the Russian capital);
the creation and effective control of the orbital satellite constellation, which includes not only military, but also scientific and commercial satellites;
warning of the military-political leadership of a rocket attack on the Russian Federation.
It would seem that the Space Forces were one of the youngest types of troops. But this can be judged if one starts from the appearance of the KV AF of the Russian Federation. In fact stories these troops more than half a century. By the standards of other types of troops - a little, but during this time, several generations of servicemen, most directly related to the defense of the country with a “target” to the nearest space, served the Fatherland.
It is believed that the Space Forces, transformed into the EKR troops, began their journey in the 1955 year. It was then - 59 years ago - the first units were formed, which later became the Strategic Missile Forces. At the same time, a historic decision was made to build a cosmodrome in the steppes of the Kazakh SSR, which became the launch pad for a launch and a rocket with the first artificial satellite of the Earth, and a Vostok-1 spacecraft with the first cosmonaut on board - Yuri Gagarin. By the way, the leaders of the space program for quite a long time chose as a place for the future construction of a space center between the Kyzyl-Orda region (it was there that the space center was built), the Mari ASSR and Dagestan. The choice fell on the place where Baikonur is now located, because the territory of Kzyl-Orda and adjacent areas made it easy to place additional functional centers at a distance of 400-500 km on the plain. One of the project participants recalls: the Mari Republic and Dagestan have disappeared by themselves, since they would have to build functional centers either in impassable swamps or in mountainous areas.
1992 of the year can be considered no less important in the history of the Constitutional Court of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (now the EKR troops) for the reason that it was in 1992 that the presidential decree “On the structure of managing space activities in the Russian Federation” appeared. In July, 1992, the birth of the Russian Military Space Forces took place. VKS RF were created in a difficult time for the country. Representatives of the older and middle-generation Russian citizens remember very well how the country felt 22 a year ago: quite a bit of time passed after a heavy blow - the collapse of the Soviet Union, the economy went out, switching under the control of "young reformers" to market rails, the first wave of barbarous privatization began to rise. Necessary for the full development of the VKS of the Russian Federation government funds are not allocated. In addition, the actual breakdown of ties between the once Union Republics led to the fact that space government programs had to be curtailed one after another.
In such difficult conditions, the command of the Military Space Forces was carried out by Vladimir Ivanov. He entered his position back in 1989 year as commander of the space units of the USSR Ministry of Defense, and 1992 year was transformed into a new military and political reality due to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
28 March 2001, when the Space Forces turned into an independent branch of the armed forces, they were headed by Anatoly Perminov, a graduate of the Perm VVKIU, the command department of the Dzerzhinsky Military Academy, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation. It is at this time that active interaction with European institutions begins in the implementation of numerous space programs, most of which have led to substantial success.
Oleg Ostapenko became the last commander of the Space Forces of the Russian Federation (as a separate branch of the military). He also became the first commander of the Aerospace Defense Forces, into which the Russian Federation VC and transformed.
"Military Review" congratulates all readers who are related to the Space Forces (regardless of the official names and status of units) on the holiday! Someone will say that this holiday is morally obsolete, and it is necessary to publish congratulations on December 1 (on the Day of Troops of the East-Kazakhstan oblast), but October 4 became a real milestone for our country - a milestone opening the way to outer space, a milestone for our country the right to be called a superpower.
Today it is difficult to overestimate the importance of the Space Forces (EKR troops) for the country's defense. Someone ensures the safety of Russia at sea, someone - on land frontiers. The servicemen of the East Kazakhstani armies carry out the mission to protect the Fatherland with a full-fledged space-scale dome!
Happy holiday! Let the start and landing be successful! And let the term “Russian cosmos” not over time become a strange combination of words, but will always determine objective reality and remind that we are the first in space.
