Islamic militants on the night of August 28 attacked a Lebanese army post located near the town of Ersal, near the Syrian border, reports PIA News with reference to the message of the Lebanese channel al-Mayadin.
The report says: “The militants tried to seize an army post and advance towards the Lebanese city of Ersal, located 12 kilometers from the Syrian border. The attack managed to repel, the artillery of the Lebanese army struck at the places of accumulation of terrorists in the mountains surrounding the city. A few hours earlier, the Syrian air force also bombed Islamist positions. ”.
According to the channel, the same night, an exchange of fire began with the militants at an army post near the town of Ein-Ata, located in 120-km from Ersal. As a result, one militant was killed, two were wounded. The soldiers have no casualties.
It is reported that Ersal was captured by the terrorists of the “Islamic State” 2 of August, but after 6 days the Lebanese army knocked them out and restored full control over the city. Having retreated, the militants took the hostages with them.
The suburb of Ersal is considered to be the back base of the Islamists. From here they advance towards Homs and Damascus. Repeated sweeps of this area have not been able to reverse the situation.
