A truck with ten dead was found at a burned-out military warehouse in Transbaikalia
As reported NEWS, in Transbaikalia, in the territory of a burnt-down ammunition depot, an official car was found, inside of which there were ten dead. The explosion occurred at the moment when the evacuation of military warehouse employees was carried out. The machine did not have time to leave the territory of the unit before the ammunition began to explode.
Among the dead were identified the commander of the center of material and technical property, one military man serving under the contract, as well as eight more people belonging to the civilian personnel of the military unit.
The fire in the territory of the army arsenal arose as a result of forest fires. A strong wind affected the spread of fire from the nearby woodland. And the fire with such swiftness was transmitted through the treetops, that people were literally cut off from a safe exit from the territory engulfed in fire.
The deceased officer made the decision to personally remove all employees from the fire zone on a service truck. But before the car left the dangerous territory, there were explosions. The truck immediately caught fire. All the people in it died.
While extinguishing a fire at an ammunition depot, several more people were injured. In total, as a result of an arsenal fire, about twenty explosions occurred.
Currently, all sources of fire in the territory of the military unit are already extinguished, therefore, a warehouse with ammunition and fuel does not pose a danger to the population. The burned-out arsenal was designed for the storage of almost four thousand railway wagons with ammunition. Also here are TNT, anti-tank, anti-personnel mines and detonators.
After the fire at the army arsenal and the death of people was prosecuted. The investigation is conducted by the Investigation Department of Transbaikalia.
As a result of a fire in the military depots, residents of nearby villages were evacuated. All of them were provided with hot meals.
Also, because of the explosions in the burning warehouse, the movement of passenger trains was stopped. Currently, railway traffic has already been restored.
