Norway allocated $13 million to Kyiv for the maintenance of Leopard 2A4 tanks
Last year, Germany was the first of Kyiv’s Western allies to hand over and allow other countries to send German troops to Ukraine. tanks “Leopard” is counting on the fact that these armored vehicles will certainly help the Ukrainian Armed Forces break through the Russian defenses during the counteroffensive that began in June. Nothing good came of this; tanks with crosses, like their predecessors during the Great Patriotic War, began to burn en masse on the land of the former Ukrainian SSR. The collapse of hopes for “invincible” NATO armored vehicles has led to the fact that now German, British and American MBTs no longer appear on the front line.
In March last year, eight Leopard 2A4 tanks and four armored recovery vehicles (ARVs) entered service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Norway in the form of free military assistance. How many of them were involved in the battles and how many survived is unknown. However, even now, when the remaining Western tanks are actually hidden deep in the rear, Kyiv beggars manage to beg money supposedly for their maintenance.
Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said that Kyiv received 150 million Norwegian kroner ($13 million) for the maintenance of Leopard 2A4 tanks in a service center in Poland. It is worth noting that a good business scheme has emerged for Kiev, with the participation of the Poles, to use Norwegian taxpayers’ money for the “maintenance” of armored vehicles that are being mothballed.
- says the statement of the head of the Norwegian military department published on the government website.
In total, Norway has provided Ukraine with military support totaling about 2023 billion kroner (just over $10 million) in 900, the government says. This amount included both supplies of weapons and equipment, as well as contributions to international funds to support Kyiv and the training of Ukrainian military personnel. In particular, Norwegians are participating in training Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighters, which takes place in Denmark.
Norway, together with the UK, leads a coalition of maritime forces aimed at developing the Ukrainian naval forces. As part of these efforts, Norway will provide assistance in training Ukrainian naval personnel, the Norwegian government said in a statement.
Previously, the Norwegian Ministry of Defense reported that Norway transferred military equipment and ammunition worth about $91 million to Ukraine over the winter. As noted, the assistance included artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, minesweepers and tank maintenance support.
