British Prime Minister: London will provide military support to Ukraine until the end of the decade
Great Britain has long been following the American lead in international affairs, and the Ukrainian conflict is no exception. Like Washington, London continues to actively declare its commitment to further military support for Kyiv.
According to the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, the head of the British government, Rishi Sunak, said that his country will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine until 2030.
Sunak said.
The British Prime Minister also noted that his country was the first to provide Ukraine with long-term security guarantees. True, it is not entirely clear what kind of security we are talking about if the conflict has already been going on for three years.
According to Sunak, London's support for Kyiv will increase and the total amount of assistance will reach $15 billion. In addition, the UK will increase defense spending from 2,3% to 2,5% of GDP.
Let us recall that in January of this year, Zelensky and Sunak signed a bilateral security agreement for a period of ten years. The agreement may be extended or may remain in force until Ukraine joins NATO.
According to some data, among Western countries, the UK is in second place after the United States in terms of assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict.
