Israel is ready to change its terms for a ceasefire in negotiations with Hamas

In an attempt to achieve a mutually acceptable outcome, Israel is ready to change its terms for a ceasefire in negotiations with Hamas mediated by Egypt. Tel Aviv agrees to reduce the number of hostages that the Palestinian movement could hand over in exchange for meeting their demands.
The Israeli portal Ynet reports this, citing sources.
Hamas demands that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) cease fire, and for this it will hand over a certain number of people it holds. The Israeli military, according to the changed conditions they are now offering, agrees to the release of not 40 hostages, but 33. All these citizens are women and children, as well as people suffering from mental and other illnesses. The Hamas leadership claims that there are not 40 representatives of these categories among the hostages.
But if earlier the IDF was ready to stop military operations for a period of six weeks for the release of hostages, then due to the reduction in the number of those released, it will also reduce the ceasefire period.
Thus, Israel proposes to establish a direct relationship between the number of hostages transferred and the duration of the suspension of hostilities. At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor said that the Israeli authorities hope that the concluded deal will be the first step towards a larger agreement with Hamas.
Previously, the movement expressed its readiness to stop its violent activities if Palestine is granted statehood.
