Vladimir Putin confirmed plans for a visit to China, he announced this during a speech at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
The Russian president's visit to China will take place in May of this year; Putin did not specify the exact dates. Most likely, the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will take place after the inauguration ceremony, which will take place on May 7. This will be the first foreign trip since the president officially took office, thus Russia will confirm that it considers China an ally.
Let us recall that in March 2023, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, who was re-elected at the National People's Congress, made his first official visit to Russia. Then he held official and informal meetings with Putin.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Putin's visit to China would be announced in a timely manner, but did not confirm that it would be the first foreign visit after the inauguration.
We will announce all visits in a timely manner (...) Together with our Chinese partners we will announce everything
- added Peskov.
Today, China is the main strategic partner for Russia, through which many sanctioned goods enter our country. The United States threatens Beijing with sanctions for supporting Moscow, but the PRC demands that Americans not pry into Russian-Chinese relations.
