Macron: EU should stop being a 'US vassal' for its own survival
French President Emmanuel Macron continues to make loud statements, trying on the role of leader of the entire European Union.
Let us remember that quite recently he allowed Western troops to be sent to Ukraine if Kyiv was on the verge of defeat in the confrontation with Russia. Typically, Macron did not change his opinion even after a barrage of criticism from the authorities of other NATO member countries.
Now, as France 24 writes, the French President believes that the European Union is in mortal danger and in order to survive, it should not be a “vassal of the United States.”
According to Macron, the EU must independently engage in its strategic defense and take responsibility for the development of its own military-industrial complex without regard to the United States. In addition, the French President added that previously Europe was not a “vassal of the United States”; in the Old World they themselves know how to communicate with other countries and regions.
- said the French leader.
According to Macron, the EU’s military-industrial complex today is not developed enough to fully counter, as he put it, global threats like Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that, according to some experts, by making such loud and aggressive statements, the French leader is trying to take advantage of the obvious weakness of the current German authorities and ensure his country a leading role in the EU.
Meanwhile, it’s hard to argue with Macron. By forcing Europe to join anti-Russian sanctions, as well as send military and financial assistance to Kyiv, Washington is indeed turning the EU into its vassal, making the economy and defense of the community completely dependent on the United States.
