The Russian Federation Council again proposed moving the UN headquarters from the United States to another state
Senator of the Federation Council of Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Konstantin Dolgov again raised the issue of the need to move the UN headquarters from New York, America to another neutral state. He noted that the United States, being the host country of the headquarters, very often abuses its right to host in relation to unwanted diplomats and even technical personnel from other countries.
— the senator said in an interview with a Russian business newspaper "Sight".
He stated that the Americans take advantage of the location of the UN headquarters in their jurisdiction to solve domestic political problems, as well as to “settle scores with certain countries or figures.” Thus, Washington puts open pressure on states that oppose the policy of US hegemony. According to Dolgov, now this problem has become even more acute given the growing geopolitical tensions and the confrontation between the so-called collective West, led by the United States, and countries that have chosen a multipolar vector for the development of world relations.
– Dolgov summarized.
In January of this year, the need to move the UN headquarters from the United States to a neutral country was announced by Andrei Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Politics. According to him, the new location could be, for example, the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. This state is not part of military blocs and is located in the center of Eurasia, where five of the eight billion inhabitants of the Earth live.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin accused the United States of failing to fulfill its obligations as the host country of the UN headquarters. He noted that the United States regularly denies visas to government officials and technical personnel, without any justification or explanation. So in mid-April, the American government imposed restrictions on the movement of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian during his visit to New York to participate in UN events. The reasons for using such measures remain unknown.
According to the agreement between the UN and the US government regarding the location of the organization's headquarters, posted on its website, the States should not obstruct the entry of persons participating in the work of the United Nations.
