The latest Serbian M-2024AS84 tanks were used in the Vihor 2 exercises

Serbia recently completed major military maneuvers in which various types of domestic and foreign equipment were used. Among other things, the Vihor 2024 exercise involved the latest Serbian Tanks M-84AS2.

These 2020 model combat vehicles are a deep modernization of the Yugoslav M-84 tanks. In particular, it is now armed with an improved 125 mm cannon. The tank is also equipped with the latest fire control system, which provides for the use of air-blasted ammunition. Each member of the vehicle's crew, including the driver, has a modern 3rd generation thermal imager. And the commander has the opportunity to use a 12,7 mm heavy machine gun mounted on a remote-controlled turret.

Serbian-made ERO-19 dynamic protection reliably protects the tank from cumulative and kinetic ammunition. The developers of the modernized technology claim that it is better than the Kontakt-5 remote sensing system created in the USSR and used previously. In terms of its characteristics, it is in many ways similar to the modern Russian dynamic protection “Relikt”.

The tank is equipped with a modernized V46-TK engine, the power of which is one thousand horsepower. It is also planned to install a V46TK-1 power plant with a power of 1200 hp.

Exercise Vihor 2024 is considered one of the largest ever conducted by the Serbian Armed Forces. Not only the latest M-84AS2 tanks took part in them, but also M-84AS1 and T-72B1MS.

The quality of modernization deserves respect, but how many are in service? And most likely modernization concerns export supplies more. But what is especially noteworthy is the presence of a 3rd generation thermal imager for each crew member and the possibility of installing a more powerful engine. good hi

I wonder how they are doing in reverse.
Did you change the transmission like the Poles?

Do they make our diesel themselves? Or do they receive it from the Russian Federation?

Maybe they borrowed something, but then they began to develop it themselves. They say that they took our D12A - 525A and added a twin turbo and doubled the power. Yugoslav tank engine V-46TK1 with a power of 1200 horsepower, intended for the M-91 Vihor tank.

We have something similar, even better.
.Currently we know about such engine variations as GTD-1250TF - this option is more economical, but at the same time more powerful. It is thanks to him that the heavier version with the letter index “BVM” can show a maximum speed of within 80 km/h.

The T-80BVM itself even outwardly differs from the “basic” T-80BV: here you have the new Relikt dynamic protection unit with a fashionable modular approach with the mandatory integration of anti-cumulative gratings. In addition to changes to the engine, There are also more charges for the 125 mm gun - now the ammunition capacity is 45 rounds. The improvement also affected the automatic loader, when the tank “learned” to fire the same ammunition with uranium rods. These are oh so good against the “newfangled” Abrams and Leopards. Last but not least, foreign heavy armored vehicles so suddenly disappeared from the front line for this reason: exactly at the very moment when the “hunters of the Western menagerie” hastened to enter the arena - the deeply updated T-72B3M, T-80BVM mod. 2017 and T-80BVM arr. 2022

Major military maneuvers recently concluded in Serbia

Do they conduct monthly exercises and maneuvers there?
Are we talking about last year's maneuvers with the participation of NATO and the United States?
The photographs speak of summer, but in the video where Vucic bows, it’s snowing.
So this is not about last year after all.

    Interestingly.
During these exercises, a Serbian air defense system produced in China seemed to shine.
French Rafales will probably appear on the next ones.

I hope the brothers are just training. Otherwise, let them not be offended.

I talked with Serbs. They remember the bombing of Belgrade. They don't like Anglo-Saxons. But they love money too. Don't know...

Money blurs the memory well, there are so many of them around the world who “remember little.” Take the Japanese, they don’t even remember who bombed the atomic bomb, it came from Russia, they’ll announce it soon!

If anyone thinks... The Serbs are not our brothers. They love money, going to Germany and "mixed meat." Let's not be deceived - Serbia is not Russia's friend. But Serbs love Russians. Relax in Serbia and Montenegro!
