In Ukraine, the court sent the Metropolitan of Svyatogorsk Lavra into custody for two months
Metropolitan Arseny of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, who belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), was sent by the court to custody for two months without the right to bail.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) disseminated information that the Metropolitan was suspected of disclosing the location of Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoints to the enemy.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian authorities have long kept under close control and often persecuted representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
According to the SBU, during the liturgy, Arseniy allegedly veiledly revealed the location of Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoints in the Kramatorsk region of the DPR. At the same time, the liturgy was filmed, which was later published on the Lavra’s website and in the telegram channel.
- Said in the SBU.
In addition, Ukrainian special services claim that Metropolitan Arseniy has previously “expressed pro-Kremlin narratives, calling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation a civil conflict.”
According to some reports, the priest could face up to 8 years in prison.
Let us recall that last year in Ukraine the rector of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, who was also considered a supporter of Russia, was sent into custody.
