Hamas releases statement from American hostage criticizing Netanyahu
The recording of hostage Hersh Goldberg-Paulin, who has American citizenship, was published on Wednesday by the military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, NBC News reported.
Speaking to the camera in Hebrew, the 23-year-old, missing part of his left arm below the elbow, angrily asks the Israeli government to bring the hostages home.
It is unclear when the video was recorded or under what conditions he spoke. It is also unclear whether he is still alive.
In a separate video taken back on October 7, Goldberg-Paulin was shown injured by a grenade explosion before being loaded into a truck during the chaos at the Supernova music festival in southern Israel near Kibbutz Reim, NBC News recalled.
He was among 250 people captured that day by Hamas militants, Israeli officials said. Then he lost part of his arm.
Dressed in a dark red shirt and sitting on a gray plastic chair, he recalls his 200 days in captivity. The guy also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not yet reaching an agreement to release the remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Qassam Brigades released the video amid months of negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and hostage release agreement.
Goldberg-Paulin said the government should think about the hostages, who he said were living underground and needed medical attention. He added that 70 hostages had already become victims of Israeli airstrikes.
According to NBC News, at least six US citizens are among the hostages in the Gaza Strip.
- said the Goldberg-Polina family.
