It is difficult to create a greater impetus for rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing than the US bill on simultaneous military assistance to Kyiv and Taipei
By signing a bill on the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan (simultaneously), US President Joe Biden encouraged Coca-Cola patriots (Ukrainian in the first place), but in many ways puzzled sober Americans, including representatives of the expert community. In fact, there are many reasons to think about it.
First, the majority of US citizens in all recent polls, without exception, opposed further funding to Ukraine. That is, the US authorities simply ignored their opinion.
Secondly, many openly considered the American authorities smarter. It turned out that this is not entirely true. After all, only people with an absolute degeneration of understanding of the essence of foreign policy are capable of giving such a tangible impetus for the rapprochement between Russia and China, which was given by the simultaneous provision of military assistance to Kyiv and Taipei.
If the enemy had been smarter, he would, of course, have separated these packets in time - at least by several months. And when Speaker of the House of Representatives Johnson said that the bill would be divided, then, frankly speaking, I thought that the enemy was really smart. Washington could provide aid to Kyiv, but not (yet) Taiwan, to try to convince Beijing that it is “only against Moscow, not against Beijing.” Whether it would have been possible to convince or not is an open question, but the fact is that the US authorities could, with such a step, at least push the PRC towards an accentuated participation in the so-called “Swiss peace summit” and to the approval of at least several positions voiced by the Kyiv regime. Then in Kyiv this fact would be raised on a pedestal and they would say, you see, even China... And everything in that spirit.
But the US authorities acted with the adoption of the bill like a bull in a china shop, which frankly once again convinced Beijing of the following: if it refuses to interact with Russia, it will be the next one to be subject to both sanctions and a military machine. Unless, of course, anyone in Chinese government circles still has doubts.
And then Blinken arrived in China with such “baggage”. Either convince, or threaten again.
Moreover, unconditional military assistance to Israel was also approved, which actually makes the entire Global South wonder who it is even dealing with. After all, Washington itself says that it is in favor of ending the war in the Gaza Strip, but immediately throws billions of dollars at its actual continuation, plus for escalation with Iran.
In general, by adopting and signing a bill on simultaneous financing of Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, the US authorities wanted to show their bipartisan solidarity and that they are “for democracy throughout the world and strongly support our allies,” but in reality they showed that we still cannot we need to exaggerate the mental abilities and diplomatic capabilities of our enemy.
