“They will stand until documents are issued”: 300 Ukrainians blocked passport service in Warsaw
36
There was a first reaction abroad to the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to suspend the issuance of documents to Ukrainian male citizens at consular offices. In the capital of Poland, Warsaw, Ukrainian men have already reached the building where the passport service of the State Enterprise “Document” is located.
According to Ukrainian sources, 300 men blocked the passport service. But the Ukrainian media and social networks do not yet have videos or photographs that would confirm this information.
They really ask for help, bring food and medicine. All the men say they are ready to stand as long as necessary before the documents are issued
- emphasized in the message of the Ukrainian source.
It can be assumed that this is the “first sign” of such protests. Over time, there will be more and more of them in different European cities, and an increasing number of Ukrainian citizens who find themselves outside the country will take part in them. Some Ukrainian politicians are also dissatisfied with the decision of the Foreign Ministry. They believe that this measure is unnecessary and only pushes Ukrainian citizens away from their own country.
Having failed to obtain Ukrainian passports, men will simply make every effort to obtain passports from other countries. Naturally, after this they and their families will never return to Ukraine. That is, the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs openly harms the demographic situation in Ukraine, creating additional risks for it.
