US Secret Service is working on a possible Trump imprisonment scenario
11
The US Secret Service, whose mission is to provide protection to current and former American presidents, is working on a scenario in which former President Donald Trump would be imprisoned in one of the criminal cases initiated against him.
American publications ABC and The New York Times note that if the court decides it is necessary to arrest Trump and take the ex-president into custody, this will become a real “logistical nightmare” for the security service, since for security reasons, according to the protocol, he will have to be kept separately from other prisoners, regularly check food and personal belongings, and carry out 24-hour surveillance.
A court in New York previously held a hearing against Trump on charges of falsifying business records. The prosecution claims that Trump's lawyer, on the eve of his victory in the 2016 presidential election, paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130 to allegedly keep her silent about her relationship with Trump. Trump, in turn, denies all such statements.
According to the charges brought against the former US President, the total maximum possible penalty is 136 years in prison. Trump believes that the criminal prosecution against him is politically motivated and related to his intention to participate in the 2024 presidential campaign, which he has a good chance of winning.
