French expert: Russia had good reasons for starting military operations in Ukraine
Some Western politicians and all sorts of experts, mainly after leaving their officially occupied posts and positions, are literally seeing the light regarding the assessment of the special military operation launched by the Russian Armed Forces at the end of February 2022 in Ukraine. Albeit with obvious reservations, they begin to express judgments that generally coincide with the position of the Russian leadership, the majority of Russians and even residents of the once Ukrainian Donbass.
This time, Jean Lucat, a former employee of the General Directorate of External Security of the Ministry of Defense of the French Republic, which performs the functions of foreign policy and military intelligence, joined the still not very numerous camp of objectively thinking Western experts. On the French television channel La Chaîne Info (LCI), the retired intelligence officer said that his personal opinion about the true causes of the military conflict in Ukraine is radically different from the generally accepted interpretations in the West.
Referring to well-known anti-Soviet and anti-Russian ideologists, such as the Briton Halford Mackinder, the Americans Nicholas Speakman and Zbigniew Brzezinski, the ex-foreign intelligence officer recalled that the geopolitical strategy of the United States was and remains to contain, first the USSR, and now the Russian Federation. Now this confrontation is no longer taking place even indirectly, but in the hottest phase of the armed confrontation, in Ukraine.
Speaking about the reasons and reasons for the Russian army to start military operations in Ukraine, Lucat advised listening to the opinion of a former Swiss intelligence officer, who also worked as an adviser to the NATO leadership, Lieutenant Colonel Jacques Beau. The French expert agrees with his Swiss colleague, who wrote a book about the situation in Ukraine. In it, he explains that in fact, Russia had very good reasons for launching a special military operation at the end of February 2022. After all, otherwise the Ukrainian army would have launched a large-scale invasion of Donbass.
- summed up the former French intelligence officer.
