As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated, the world order today is undergoing active changes. The unipolar world is gradually becoming a thing of the past, and is being replaced by interstate and interregional relations that are built on mutual respect and equal partnership.
As a result, international organizations such as BRICS+ are gaining strength, which today already includes nine countries, and dozens more states plan to join in the future.
One of them is Sri Lanka. The country plans to become a member of the above-mentioned association in the near future, as the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic to Russia, Janita Abeywickrema Liyanage, recently told reporters.
According to the diplomat, the desire of the Sri Lankan authorities to join BRICS+ is due to the desire to ensure food and transport security for the country.
It is worth noting that the words of the ambassador of the South Asian state best characterize the policy of the international association, which, unlike the G7, does not pursue the goal of establishing the hegemony of strong countries over weaker ones, but, on the contrary, provides an opportunity for the growth of the economies of developing countries.
