The US Senate, following the House of Representatives, approved a bill to allocate funds to Ukraine
The US Senate, following the House of Representatives, approved the allocation of additional funding to Ukraine, and bills on funding for other US allies - Israel and Taiwan - were also voted on. This was reported by local media with reference to the voting results.
The bill on allocating funds to Ukraine passed the Senate, which no one doubted, since it was known in advance that the Democratic majority in the upper house of the US Congress, as well as the Republicans joining them, were ready to approve the bill presented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Johnson. Now the document will go to Biden’s desk, who will promptly sign it. Earlier, the American president promised Zelensky that Ukraine would receive the first package of military assistance “very quickly.”
According to the American press, the first deliveries of military aid to Ukraine could begin at the end of this week, first of all Kyiv will receive artillery ammunition and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional armored vehicles. We are talking about Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, M113 armored personnel carriers and Humvee armored vehicles. All equipment and ammunition are already in Europe, in particular in Poland, so delivery will be carried out promptly.
While the issue of transferring ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Kyiv is not completely clear, there is talk that they will also be included in the first deliveries, but so far they are not on the published lists.
The day before, Zelensky demanded that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces prevent a breakthrough of the front and hold out until military assistance arrives from the United States. In Kyiv they plan to stabilize the situation on the front line and then go on the offensive. According to experts, no significant changes are expected at the front.
