Representative of the Almaz-Antey concern: German Taurus cruise missiles are not a difficult target for Russian air defense systems

Specialists of the Almaz-Antey concern are able to change the algorithms of anti-aircraft missile systems directly at their deployment sites, improving their ability to counteract drones. This was announced by Deputy General Director for Scientific and Technical Development of the concern Sergei Druzin.

Since the beginning of the special military operation, the concern’s specialists have gained extensive experience, including working with complexes at deployment sites, without being sent to the enterprise. So replacing the algorithms of anti-aircraft systems is a difficult task, but quite solvable.

To a large extent, both our equipment and algorithms have been improved, and the capabilities of the complexes have been expanded. Moreover, all this is done, as they say, from wheels. In some cases, without factory conditions, that is, modifications to the “mathematics” are made at the locations.

- leads TASS Druzin's words.

Discussing the likely supply of German Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a representative of Almaz-Antey said that although they are a difficult target, they do not pose a problem for Russian anti-aircraft systems.

This is not an easy goal, let's be honest. It has a small EPR, that is, signature or visibility. But the energy potential of all our means allows us to confidently detect (...) They are detected and confidently amazed.

- Druzin added.

“German Taurus cruise missiles are not a difficult target for Russian air defense systems” -

    — It’s better, of course, that these “goals” don’t exist...

Our analogue of the Taurus missile launcher is the X-69 missile launcher.
The first thing that needs to be noted is the advanced and noise-proof Taurus KEPD 350 missile guidance system. Its key feature is the open architecture of the additional optical-electronic module of the IBN (Image Based Navigation) correlation system, which compares the TV/IR image of the terrain on the cruising section of the trajectory with terrain templates loaded onto the on-board storage device. This module is located under an optically transparent turret fairing in the forward part of the rocket fuselage, due to which its activation can be carried out on any segments of the initial and sustaining sections of trajectories in the event of multiple amplification of electronic countermeasures to the antenna of the rocket's GPS correction module. And this is not to mention the fact that the GPS correction antenna module is hardware shielded from the lower hemisphere and has a narrow radiation pattern. Therefore, to suppress the GPS correction channel, it is necessary to use electronic warfare equipment operating in the L-band and located primarily on airborne carriers ( UAVs and electronic warfare aircraft). Moreover, with the GPS correction module deactivated, maintaining an acceptable trajectory can be achieved not only thanks to the IBN optical-electronic correlation module, but also through an advanced inertial navigation module based on laser gyroscopes, developed and manufactured by Northrop Grumman LITEF division . This data is aggregated with terrain data obtained through the TRN (Terrain Reference Navigation) radar altimeter.

At the terminal segment of the Taurus trajectory, standard infrared guidance sensors operating in the mid-/long-wave infrared ranges (3 - 5 and 8 - 12 microns, respectively) are used.

It is clear that the Taurus is a fairly advanced missile and it is difficult to jam it, but it is possible to shoot it down if it falls into the target zone of an air defense system. The problem is its earlier detection, which is the problem for us.

You noticed this correctly, but this is not always possible. The territory is not small and they can be transported both by railway and on civilian trucks. And as you probably noticed, the people who oppose us are far from fools and they are calculating different options.

Absolutely right. And it must be destroyed where it is produced. Warn the fascists that if a missile hits a civilian target, or across Russian territory, the company's headquarters and all production facilities will be destroyed. And believe me, no one will fit in. They will impose an additional 100500 sanctions, and that’s it.

I think that if we find someone who publicly voices such a threat, then in Washington and Brussels they will open champagne that same evening. Because we ourselves will drive ourselves into a no-win situation, when it will be impossible to get out of it, at best, without losing face. And in the worst case, the United States will happily start a war between the NATO bloc and Russia - at the hands of Germany (if we strike its territory), and therefore Poland. This will be a strike for them.

that although they are a difficult target, they do not pose a problem for Russian anti-aircraft systems.
But for us, the best result would be if they had not appeared near Kyiv at all. But apparently everything is heading towards the fact that the Germans will still supply their own missiles, and it is possible that with their own specialists.

The problem may be their number. For serious damage, one missile out of 20 is enough. For air defense, an excellent result, but in general?

This is not an easy goal, let's be honest. It has a small ESR, that is, signature or visibility.

What are you talking about? She is still air surface. It even has a combined guidance system: consisting of three subsystems that provide reliable autonomous navigation. I talked about the possibility of shooting down air targets in general, regardless of their type, carrier and design. Otherwise today there are no problems, but tomorrow there are problems, but they can be solved, and only the day after tomorrow they almost understood how to shoot down.

as my grandmother used to say, “even a hedgehog can understand this”
    but TWO questions remain:
    - Do we have enough air defense missiles for the incoming number of their attacking missiles/UAVs;
    - you can talk as much as you like about the “energy potential” while sitting in your office on a leather chair from Italy, but this only makes our air defenses less noticeable...

and no matter how much you say... it won’t be sweeter in your mouth

Representative of the Almaz-Antey concern: German Taurus cruise missiles are not a difficult target for Russian air defense systems
the goal may not be complex, the problem is that attacks occur according to a certain algorithm, in a complex manner, and this is not so easy to repel...
It’s not fools who are fighting against us, we must understand this clearly and not make... rash statements, so as not to bleat with a poor look!
It is obvious that our air defense is at the level and combat experience of most everyone else... but there is no impenetrable defense.

The sword is always double-edged... it’s difficult for us, we suffer losses, but at the same time we learn and adapt in all directions. We are definitely becoming stronger and more dangerous for everyone who dares to cross... in general, we are ready to knock off the horns of anyone!

I don’t know how many questions you can ask the military, but one about Borisov’s drones, for sure. Most of the problems that could at least be avoided happen thanks to politicians. Therefore, among other things, we receive news like: “In March 2024, China reduced supplies to Russia of machinery, equipment (including electrical equipment), mechanisms, their parts and accessories for the first time since the end of 2022.”

Either this representative of Almaz and Antey is an eccentric, or the journalist is the same, but with the letter “M”.
Let me explain my concern: Tyrnet remembers everything. And what will this representative in the Zhur company continue to “sing” if the missile(s) does reach the “target” with high quality? Both will write a letter of resignation due to incompetence, because they can be forced to “answer” for the words “on air”? So... What's the point? Leaving/dismissal from positions for bragging will not speed up restoration work.
This concern is also related to “accumulated experience”: let’s remember past arrivals on “targets”. But, on federal TV channels, from all the irons, they said that the missile defense/air defense of the Russian Federation “even sees a tennis ball in the air” and can shoot it down. Well, let’s not be ostriches with heads in the asphalt and remember the past “arrivals and hits on targets”, which were reported in the official media / federal TV channels.
I would not recommend, purely from a human perspective, “boasting, going to the army.” In current realities, this is unlikely to help “representatives” make a career. Quite the contrary.
PS The Representative has practical experience in knocking down such rackets in group performance, obviously?

Yes Yes. Behind the Tauras there is a series of very accurate and successful hits. It’s probably not worth listing them here, but all the information is in open and not so open sources. And she's certainly an easy target. All that's left is to shoot it down.

Yes, if it were just air defense, everything would be much simpler. But why is the German missile being considered separately? The enemy is attacking comprehensively and in several echelons. Don’t the Almaz-Antey representatives really know this... Belgorod was subjected to just such attacks that week and alas, the air defense could not work 100%. If the enemy repeated the attack, the result would be simply terrible. Now the “North” group has been created with reinforcement, but the enemy has also changed tactics, now there are more UAV attacks, the Germans hit the Kaa during the war years on schedule.

But what about the blow where they missed? Let us remind you that on the morning of April 17, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an attack on the airfield in the Crimean Dzhankoy. After that, a fire broke out there. According to the “Spy Dossier” telegram channel, the damage from the attack on the air harbor was noticeable. It is clarified that the first strike hit the positions of the S-400 Triumph air defense system, as a result of which 3 launchers and a radar were destroyed. The second strike was struck at the reception and repair point for military equipment of the 77th anti-aircraft missile brigade. At that moment, two S-300 launchers (of an unspecified modification) were being serviced there. Also, as a result of the strike at the point, a secondary detonation of ammunition occurred. According to the Spy Dossier, 15 people received shrapnel wounds during the raid, and another 22 are listed as missing. There is no data on the destruction of military equipment; the Russian Ministry of Defense did not comment on the missile strike. Or is it a fake link who published “I don’t advise anyone to repeat my mistakes”: Hype catchers at the explosions in Dzhankoy were made to regret | News agency Novorossiya | Zen https://dzen.ru/a/ZiF9j1kOZEHjztTC
