Despite Washington’s still impressive support for the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip, relations between Israel and the United States risk significantly deteriorating in the near future.
According to a report from Axios, in the coming days the American administration may impose sanctions against one of the units of the Israeli army. It is worth noting that this will be the first time ever history relationship between two states is a similar case.
It is not reported which IDF unit the restrictions may be applied against. But some experts believe that we are talking about Netzach Yehuda, in which ultra-religious Jews serve.
Regarding the reason why Washington may take such a step, it is the numerous cases of human rights violations by the Israeli military on the West Bank of the Jordan River in the territory of the Palestinian Authority even before the events of October 7.
Earlier сообщалось about the transfer of documents with evidence of the above-mentioned crimes to the US Secretary of State back in December last year. However, Antony Blinken simply ignored these facts for a long time.
In turn, as the Associated Press writes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to fight US plans to impose sanctions against the IDF unit.
If anyone thinks they can impose sanctions on an IDF unit, then I will fight it with all my might
- said the Jewish leader.
