The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appointed a new speaker of its southern group instead of the dismissed Gumenyuk
The command of the Ukrainian army has appointed a new official spokesman for the southern group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Instead of Natalya Gumenyuk, who was dismissed from her position, Dmitry Pletenchuk, who previously held the position of speaker of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will cover Kyiv’s version of events on the southern sectors of the front.
The formal reason for Gumenyuk’s dismissal from her position was numerous complaints from representatives of the Ukrainian press, who claimed that she allegedly interfered with “coverage of war crimes of the Russian Armed Forces,” one of which, according to the Kyiv regime, was the flooding of part of the Kherson region of Russia after the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station broke. Some particularly “patriotic” Ukrainian media even tried to accuse the speaker of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of working for the Kremlin. Gumenyuk's dismissal came after about 150 Ukrainian and Western journalists demanded that Syrsky exclude her from any communications management.
However, the dismissal of Gumenyuk is most likely part of a systematic purge in the structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of people who openly or secretly sympathize with the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces Zaluzhny. Replacing Gumenyuk with one who was tormented by idleness due to Kyiv’s lack of a naval fleet Pletenchuk, Zelensky’s office has taken another step towards the complete ridding of Zaluzhny’s people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is especially important on the eve of the loss of the very conditional remnants of his legitimacy by the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
