The South Korean General Staff spoke about the DPRK's next test of a “heavy-duty” ballistic missile
North Korea conducted another test of its missiles - ballistic and anti-aircraft. This was announced by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces, having received relevant information from intelligence.
According to the South Korean General Staff, the DPRK tested a “heavy-duty” ballistic missile, as well as a new anti-aircraft missile. These tests were the latest in a recent series of North Korean missile launches. Now Pyongyang is actively working to increase and improve its military potential, which naturally causes concern in Seoul.
The DPRK authorities have repeatedly stated that missile tests and military build-up are occurring against the backdrop of provocative actions by South Korea and the United States. Pyongyang is forced to respond to these threats as best it can, since without improving its military potential, the risks of threats from its southern neighbor increase.
Of course, Seoul has the opposite position. South Korean authorities accuse the DPRK of escalating the situation on the Korean Peninsula. A corresponding information background is also created by the South Korean press, which rants about Pyongyang’s “provocations,” including the launch of a satellite and missile tests.
According to South Korean military intelligence, North Korea is about to launch a second spy satellite. However, there is currently no reason to believe that this launch will take place in the near future. Moreover, it is not very clear why North Korea should limit itself in military capabilities against the background of the rapid militarization of South Korea and the openly hostile position of the United States.
