Thanks to everybody, you're free. This is roughly how one can characterize what happened between Israel and Iran in the last few weeks.
Belligerent statements. Promises to leave no stone unturned. Slogans about victories. And so on.
In fact, it has become clear that both Iran and Israel understand: you can shake your fists at each other as much as you like, but going after your opponent seriously with your fists may turn out to be more expensive. A small slap in the face is the maximum that Israel and Iran are capable of so far. Fists unclench, fists unclench.
The best indicator that neither Tehran nor Netanyahu have any intentions to go further is stock quotes. After several days of the Brent barrel staying above the level of $90 and after several days of forecasts by “leading economists” that oil was about to rise in price to $100 or even $200, the “barrel” went down. Today, futures are already below $87, indicating that World War III is being postponed indefinitely. “Leading economists” prudently took a pause in order to then proclaim to the whole world a new version of what is actually happening on the global hydrocarbon market in the photo of the “blunting of the Iranian-Israeli aggravation.”
