The DPRK conducted a test of the power of the ultra-large warhead of the Hwasar-1-la-3 strategic cruise missile and a test launch of the new Pelty-1-2 anti-aircraft missile.
North Korea's General Rocketry Administration says all stated goals were achieved during the test launches. The tests were carried out in the Yellow Sea as part of the regular activities of the Main Directorate of Rocketry and its subordinate defense research institutes, whose activities are aimed at further developing the technology of new weapons systems, including tactical and technical capabilities and control. The department emphasizes that these tests have nothing to do with the situation in the region.
Earlier it was reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called on the country's army to prepare for war. He also drew attention to the complex and steadily deteriorating international situation around North Korea.
Kim Jong-un also visited the “operation study room,” where he was presented with the results of a study of potential enemy actions, and examined a model of the capital of South Korea, Seoul. At the same time, the US authorities do not exclude the possible outbreak of an armed conflict between South Korea and the DPRK, hinting that Seoul will attack first, since the Pentagon does not observe concrete signs of Pyongyang’s preparation for war. However, US officials believe Kim Jong Un "probably feels encouraged by his expanding partnership with Russia."
