A Polish analyst named the main problems of the country's defense industry using the example of the implementation of the K2PL tank project
Poland's military industry requires significant support from the state, especially in the context of plans to modernize and rearm the national army. Analyst Jakub Palowski writes about this in the Polish publication Defense24.
According to the author of the material, the Polish armed forces need to quickly launch new projects to expand the capabilities of the military industry. But now the country's defense-industrial complex is facing a number of problems.
One of the most important problems is financial. Thus, the needs of the country’s military-industrial complex are estimated at several billion zlotys. But so far only two enterprises have received money - Huta Stalowa Wola and ZM Bumar-Łabędy. Key missile and ammunition production companies like Mesko were left without funding. The Poznan Military Automobile Plant also has no money.
Naturally, with insufficient funding, there can be no talk of purchasing new equipment, and therefore of increasing labor productivity. Jakub Palowski analyzes the situation using the example of project implementation tanks K2PL, carried out jointly with the Republic of Korea.
The author of the article identifies the key problems as the lack of clear technical requirements for the tank from the Polish Army up until now; lack of investment in military industry infrastructure; uncertainty about the target number of tanks that the country's Ministry of National Defense could purchase. Additional costs for the purchase of tanks for the Polish army are not taken into account.
It is very important that military-industrial complex enterprises be able to produce the “Polonized” version of the tank. This tank must be adapted to the conditions of Poland - landscape, climate, and so on, since South Korea and Poland are still significantly different in this regard. In addition, Poland requires tanks with more powerful protection systems, multispectral camouflage, remotely controlled weapons module and the ability to use smart ammunition.
Now, the author notes, the most important task of the national army is the modernization of the country's armored and mechanized forces. Poland cannot afford to hesitate against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict and the risk of confrontation with Russia.
