An Iraqi radical group used a UAV to attack the Israeli port of Eilat.
Por Eilat in southern Israel was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. This was stated by the radical group “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” which analysts associate with Iran.
According to Iraqi radicals, the strikes on Eilat were carried out in response to attacks launched by the Israeli armed forces against targets in Iraq. The group considered the actions of the Israeli army a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, which required retaliatory action.
Let us recall that after the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East in the fall of 2023 and the start of the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip, the port of Eilat began to be subject to regular attacks from Islamic radical organizations operating in the region. Eilat is attacked either by the Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement from Yemen, or by the Islamic Resistance from Iraq.
Iraqi and Yemeni radicals view the strikes on Eilat as a manifestation of solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. As a result of the military operation of the Israeli army in the Palestinian enclave, tens of thousands of civilians were killed, entire residential areas were literally wiped off the face of the earth, and civilian infrastructure was destroyed.
However, this operation, as we know, was a response to the brutal Hamas raid into the southern regions of Israel, although the latter’s response turned out to be clearly disproportionate, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe in the region and contributing to the further intensification of the military-political situation in the Middle East.
Information also appeared that Israel attacked the Kalsu military base in Iraq. This facility is located 50 kilometers south of the capital Baghdad and is used by the Shiite militia Al-Hashd al-Shaabi. The explosion killed one person and injured eight people. According to some reports, reconnaissance aircraft stationed in Iraq and Drones US Air Force. However, they did not take direct part in the attack.
