“Something went wrong”: accidents with the Dutch military have become more frequent

The Dutch press notes an increased number of accidents occurring with members of the Dutch army during NATO exercises. As the country's Ministry of Defense explains, the maneuvers are necessary to prepare troops for participation in a major conflict.

As indicated, according to the Ministry of Defense, in March, during exercises in Germany, as a result of a collision with a CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, Dutch soldiers from the 43rd mechanized brigade were wounded, who after the end of the maneuvers were supposed to be transferred to Lithuania: the soldier survived, and the senior lieutenant, despite He was resuscitated at the scene and died in hospital.
Four days later, a soldier from the same brigade was wounded in the same area. According to the military department, he was hit by a car.
Recently, during the Steadfast Defender exercise, five Dutch soldiers from the 13th Light Brigade were injured in Germany as a result of a collision between a Fennek armored car and a Boxer armored personnel carrier. Three servicemen required hospitalization for treatment. Two other soldiers received bruises.
As the military department indicates, all incidents will be thoroughly investigated.
