President of the Czech Republic: The West has nothing more to help Ukraine
Czech President Petr Pavel said that the West has nothing more to help Ukraine - the European Union countries do not have sufficient reserves of resources to be able to continue to provide military support to Kyiv.
Pavel also added that European countries are beginning to look for where there are still reserves of weapons and artillery ammunition available for delivery to Ukraine. At the same time, according to the Czech president, the European Union believes that US assistance to Ukraine cannot be replaced by Europe. He recalled that since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, the United States has provided at least half of all military assistance to Kyiv. In this regard, the EU is waiting for the “right decision” from the US government.
At the same time, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Czech authorities informed the defense ministers of the alliance countries that Prague has already purchased half a million artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian army.
Earlier, the President of the Czech Republic noted that negotiations on the purchase of shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being conducted in secret, including with countries that position themselves as friendly to Russia. At the same time, given their relations with Moscow, all negotiations are conducted in complete confidentiality.
The Czech president did not specify which countries he was talking about, but added that it is planned to purchase a total of 800 thousand 155-mm artillery ammunition for Ukraine. At present, agreements have already been reached on the supply of the first 180 thousand shells, another 120 thousand have already been found, but have not yet been paid for.
