Spanish M-60 tanks may be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Spanish Ministry of Defense unexpectedly canceled the auction, within which it was planned to sell Tanks M-60A3 TTS Moderna, which until 2020 was in service with the Marine Corps battalion, at a starting price of €47 thousand per unit. The reason for canceling the sale was given as “redistribution of materiel.”

It was historical opportunity for collectors of military equipment. However, now the tanks can be transferred to Ukraine as part of military assistance

- says Libertad Digital.

As noted, the expected deliveries of the M-60 can hardly be considered a significant contribution to strengthening the combat power of the Ukrainian Armed Forces:

This is very old equipment, not suitable for [modern] combat operations, unlike the Leopard 2A4 tanks, some of which the Spanish leadership has already sent to Ukraine, while others are undergoing repairs before being transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Approximately 60-260 M-300 units were supplied to Spain free of charge by the United States from storage bases in Germany in connection with commitments to reduce arms in Europe under the CFE Treaty, a treaty with the USSR that was supposed to end the arms race.

Some of these tanks entered the army, where they were used for several years until the appearance of the Leopard 2A4 and 2E. The Army's M-2011s were retired in 60 and scheduled for disposal in June 2022. The other part was transferred to the Marine Corps.

Russian museums will certainly not refuse such exhibits. It’s just in what form these exhibits will get there, I would like without significant damage.

Some of them will be abandoned, because the machines are old, you won’t have enough spare parts, and who will repair this rubbish at the front line?

Well, there is already one in Kubinka. soldier Israeli. Even before the Northern Military District there was a buzz that the tank should be given to Israel because, they say, there are remains of Israeli soldiers. lol

There was also an Israeli M-48, but Putin, a naive soul, gave the trophy at the request of Netanyahu https://topwar.ru/96005-rossiya-vozvraschaet-izrailyu-trofeynyy-tank.html

Putin exchanged one for another, the Syrians dusted off the one we had there. The T48 had a history - the Israelis gave us a T48 without a history in return.

And now Ukrainian “ravioli”, which were once Spanish, but still American, will appear. I hope that the M-4 Sherman series tanks are not far away. laughing good drinks

M 4 is unlikely, but the same Sheridans and Bulldogs can still scrape together, but they will be as useful as AMX 10s, there’s a lot of stink, there’s nothing to do for a penny, they can also scrape together an AMX 13, also a rarity, but damn, how to repair all this and I don’t understand supply...but logistics is the basis of the army, without spare parts and armored units, I don’t care how many tanks you have...they won’t be able to fight...

The Ukrainian army and logistics are an antonym to the fact, as long as the lard and onions in the warehouse do not run out. As for the AMX, in my opinion they were preserved in Peru, Venezuela and Argentina, if I’m not mistaken. In Africa, perhaps South Africa and somewhere in the Central African Republic. In general, where the French "climbed". But Sheridans and Bulldogs are rare even in the USA, but technically the Sheridan is the most interesting due to the features of its weapon with the ability to use special ammunition, as well as the ability to use ATGMs by launching from the barrel. But it’s unlikely to reach the above instances.

Somewhere in Asia they still have M41s in service, even modified ones, with TPN, Thailand in my opinion, but I could be wrong. And the AMX 13 seemed to even be praised, I read somewhere that the car turned out to be simple and quite reliable.

So in a normal army it is reliable, but not in the Ukrainian one. The Thais, when they bought the "Oplots", as well as those that were ordered but not delivered according to the obligations by the Ukrainian side, regretted it many times and are happy to use it, at least they did not abandon outdated models, including the AMX-13 90, due to their weight and dimensions plus reliability as you noted.

By the way, it’s a pretty good car, taking into account the modernization (gun, navigation, communications, night vision devices, thermal imager) specifically for the terrain of Thailand. Not to mention the engine and transmission of which are enough in the original, and there are no problems at all with spare parts due to their supply from France from army warehouses due to the decommissioning due to the lack of AMX 13 series tanks in service.

In war there are no extra armored vehicles! And if they can also shoot.... Recently the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the BTR-60 from the Bulgarians - so they were not too lazy to change the engines to German ones, and install and add additional armor to the full package of communications-control-aiming-observation, and even put doors instead of hatches ! Don't laugh at the old age of the weapon, it can still cause damage and can be upgraded!

As it happens, it’s one thing when the army has 3 types of tanks (yes, the Donbass corps is still fighting with 64 tanks) and when there are 10 types of them, and they have no unification, how will you repair all this? The pigs can’t Tshki anymore fully put in order, Abosrams and Leoperds are dragged to Europe, but there is no one to repair the M 60 in Europe, they don’t produce spare parts, I understand keeping such vehicles in case of stopping a breakthrough, it’s normal to give a couple of shots from an ambush and don’t mind throwing it if anything happens, but to push it to the front on the M 60, this is suicide, the most inferior FPV will sew it right through without any options in any projection, the M 60 was not a cake even when it was created, because it is based on the same M26.

You forgot about the T-62s operating in our army in Ukraine, which are no younger than the same M-60s, but no one considers them superfluous, although they don’t send them to the very front - and there is work for them!

We can repair and modernize the T 62, without any problems, and they are not particularly used on the front end, they are in the 2nd line, just in case of stopping a breakthrough, and so we have 62 cars in storage, spare parts are not a problem, M 60 in Europe no, almost, most of it was scraped off by the Turks, which is what they use to fight

Now think about what the pigs themselves can repair from AMX 10c, Leo 2A4, Leo 2A5(6), Leo 1A5, Abrams, Strv 122, Challenger, M 55, T 72, T80, T64, the answer will be simple, NOTHING, that’s all he goes to Europe, even to conditionally “change a light bulb”, besides the T64 they can do something else there, not to mention factory repairs, and this is only something that has a caliber of 105mm and higher, in the BMP armored personnel carrier there is an even greater vinaigrette.

There is no need to simplify or underestimate the enemy. Almost everything that was abandoned by ours during the Kharkov and Kherson “regrouping” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was able to be restored and in some places is still being used against us. The same T-64 was modernized, stuffed with electronics, optics and communications and included in the NATO battle control network loop. About the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ aviation, destroyed 10 times, is still flying and launching missiles - I think you yourself are aware...

It flies when aircraft like our Drakes can work normally, and not rustle in WWII with an incomprehensible result. Storms haven’t flown for a long time, apparently they caught 24x crackers somewhere, the pigs don’t have 27x, 29x, well, yes, they sneak in WWII, they try, and they rake regularly, in its essence, aviation simply cannot work, even for the Kharmami to work, it needs altitude and speed, even more so for the cabs, but they are not allowed to rise, they are caught at airfields, this cannot be called normal aviation work.

Both harms and storms have already caused such colossal damage that it’s a shame to voice everything! The British proudly boasted that they had taken out almost our entire counter-battery /harm/ and sank a quarter of the Black Sea fleet /storm/. And something tells me that the Ukrainian Armed Forces still have aviation to further launch this stuff!

The Kharms haven’t done anything at all, if anything it’s anti-radar missiles, they launched them often, but the missile itself is ancient and slow, and even when launched without altitude, it stupidly doesn’t reach, what kind of counter-battery are you writing about, I don’t know, such Our radars didn’t really make much use of it, Storms, yes, they drank blood, but where are they today? A quick question for you: what operational-tactical tasks can Svyney aviation be able to solve? Apart from launching storms, according to NATO intelligence data, it is not capable of anything, can I tell you how many combat aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces were lost from the fire of their hawks? Not a single side!!! not a single one..... well, as for a quarter of the fleet, the departure of Storms can be finish, your pig ears stick out clearly, no matter how you hide them

Dear Vitaly161, please, no personal insults! Behave yourself properly! Harm is quite a high-speed universal anti-radar missile, which does not care which radar it is flying into - anti-aircraft, counter-battery, surveillance, or whatever! The shortage of counter-battery ZOOs due to their incapacitation by the enemy was even officially recognized. Shoigu even demanded to increase their production several times! The fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have long expired Harms certainly affects the hit rate, but does not completely solve the problem! The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not set their aviation the task of gaining air supremacy - they are quite satisfied with the use of Western missiles as carriers! The fact that admirals were changed 3 times shows how things really are with the Black Sea Fleet!

There is no need to be ironic, although it is old, it is still a combat vehicle and can cause problems even in a few minutes on the battlefield. It's like a bullet from an old arquebus, you can laugh, but if it hits the target it won't be funny.
