April 16, 2024 Turkish manufacturer drones Baykar announced the start of testing of its latest development in the field of loitering ammunition - the Kemankes 2 product, showing relevant footage.
The new model is based on the basic version of Kemankes 1, which was demonstrated last year. However, the improved modification is equipped with a jet engine, which allows it to fly over 200 km and stay in the air for more than an hour.
The kamikaze drone looks larger than its predecessor. It is designed to strike high-priority targets located deep in enemy battle formations.
According to the manufacturer, the new version is equipped with an optical guidance system with support for artificial intelligence, which allows Kemankes 2 to operate with high accuracy even in adverse weather conditions [apparently, we are talking about the so-called “machine vision”]. The drone is equipped with electronic interference protection.
It will change the balance of the battlefield by flying autonomously with an AI-supported autopilot system and neutralizing strategic targets with pinpoint accuracy.
- the developer believes.
The basic version of Kemankes 1 was presented at TEKNOFEST 2023, and its tests were successfully carried out in June 2023 when launched from a Bayraktar TB2 reconnaissance and strike UAV.
