“They refuse to follow orders”: A British expert noted Syrsky’s problems with the nationalist brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
23
The new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Syrsky, is not very popular in the Ukrainian army, and some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine generally refuse to obey him and carry out orders. The General Staff has begun a purge of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but how this will end is still unclear. British analyst Alexander Mercouris drew attention to this problem.
Zaluzhny, who resigned, left behind many problems for Syrsky, including the disobedience of several brigades to the new commander-in-chief. We are talking about nationalist units that had some freedom under Zaluzhny. Syrsky tried to tighten the screws, but this only led to a refusal to follow orders. And now the commander in chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is trying to disband the nationalist units, subjugating them to himself.
It appears that a crisis is developing between General Syrsky and some units in the Ukrainian military system. It seems that we are talking about the most ideological units that were previously close to General Zaluzhny. These units do not want to obey Syrsky's orders
- writes the analyst.
The first to be checked and disbanded was the 67th separate mechanized brigade of the DUK, founded by nationalists from the Right Sector* (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). The core of the brigade, consisting of officers and privates, is disbanded and scattered to other units. Next in line is the 3rd Specialized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, created by veterans of the Azov National Battalion* (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). They are already talking about its possible disbandment in the West.
We also saw that there was something similar on the part of the 3rd Brigade, which consists of "Azov" (...) Syrsky also decided to disband the 3rd Assault Brigade, and that this will be announced soon
- added the Briton.
