- explained the naval command.
The tank company of the Third Fleet mechanized landing group received a batch of 1993 M16A60 TTS units in 3. These vehicles were gradually withdrawn from service between 2010 and 2020 after reaching the end of their service life.
M60A3 TTS, which served in the ILC, were delivered to Spain in 1992, among 260 used vehicles of the M60A1 and M 60A3 TTS models. The US Army donated them to Madrid as part of the reduction of conventional heavy weapons under the CFE Treaty with the USSR signed in 1990.
The tanks were delivered in minimal working condition, without additional weapons and communications equipment, in the form in which they were stored in Germersheim (Germany), so a major overhaul had to be carried out.
The M60A3 TTS has a crew of four. 12-cylinder V-shaped diesel engine AVDS-1790-2C with a power of 750 hp. The air-cooled engine is paired with an Allison CD-850-6A transmission and should reach speeds of up to 48 km/h with a range of 450 km. The tank's curb weight is 51,4 tons. Its main armament is a 105 mm M68 cannon, a coaxial 7,62 mm MG3A1 machine gun and a 12,7 mm Browning M-85. There are 4 Wegmann smoke grenade launchers on each side of the turret.
